  • Great product for a great price!
Color: Dark Size: 14' x 10'
I’ve never left a review, but with this purchase felt like I needed to just in case someone is having a hard time deciding, just like we were. With all the mixed reviews, we were extremely hesitant to try this pergola, but we really liked the look and it was the right size, 14x10, so we decided to buy it. We are very happy with the purchase and would definitely recommend to others! Yes, it was a lot of work to put it together, but all the pieces were there and the instructions that came with the product were very clear and outlined everything step-by-step. Very easy to follow and all the pieces came together perfectly. Would recommend using a drill to tighten everything, as per some reviews, seems like not everyone does this. Also, anchoring all five legs and attaching the pergola to the house made it very sturdy. My husband and I completed the set up in about 7 hours or so and that was with a few breaks. No regrets on buying this pergola. A great purchase! ... show more

  • Reasonable price, but could be improved! Time-consuming but not difficult to install.
We purchased two of these Aecojoy pergolas (each 12x16) to attach to the house on the patio (34x14) beside our pool. I read many reviews. The same brand pergolas are sold at Lowes and Home Depot, as well as other online retailers. So far, we have one pergola up but will wait until the other pergola is up before attaching to the side of the house. At 8', it fits right under the soffit. The instructions are pictures and part labels. A manfriend did the assembly. I helped with the installation. Overall, it looks "nice." Having used popup tents over this area for a few years, it's a big improvement. However, it doesn't provide the same shade as a tent 🙄. Due to the afternoon sun, I have purchased tension rods and outdoor curtains to block the sun on hot days. We will definitely get more use out of my patio now. A center post on the backside should have been provided, especially on the longer length pergolas. It is sagging in the middle and we will add whatever hardware is needed (not included) to support the middle of each pergola on the house side. Also, a middle outside bracket (inner bracket included) would have very very useful on each post both structurally and for looks (see photo). The panels are not difficult to install but a rubber mallet is very helpful with that to ensure each piece locks in. Also, a real drill is absolutely necessary! All together, I'd say we spent 10 hours to install one pergola. The installation of the second pergola will be much easier. Takes two people and a third could be helpful! We plan to use a silicone caulk down the center of both pergolas upon completion. In the event of snow, we plan to add addition supports underneath. I searched the aecojoy website for the availability of replacement panels but found none. Home Depot does sell those panels however. (I may add to my review upon completion. 🤞🏻) ... show more

  • Great look, good materials, easy assembly
Color: Dark Size: 14' x 10'
Very nice! Perfect for a deck or patio area. Well designed and quality materials. I anchored mine with some turnbuckles and attached it to handrailing. I would not recommend anchoring it by only the base of the legs. It does need attachment points up higher for sturdiness. The panels are very lightweight and offer a nice look. Snow-load could be an issue in my area. If you're looking for a nice outdoor area this will do it! Arrived quickly, no damage. Instructions are easy and accurate. All parts included. Depending on your mechanical aptitude, I felt like it was an easy assembly. You may need help holding it up during final assembly. Again, highly recommended! Thanks to others for reviews as it influenced my purchase. ... show more

  • Some hints
Color: Dark Size: 14' x 10'
I am writing this review for the 10x14 model. Over all it looks okay, doesn’t shade as much as I had hoped but again okay. Assembly wasn’t hard, did it by myself with a ladder and a DeWalt cordless drill set on low torque. I will share some things I learned along the way. I wanted this to fit under my eve's' so I had to cut about 3 inches off the legs. I used a chop saw and a drill press to accomplish this. About the assembly itself; DON’T LOSE ANY BOLTS OR NUTS; they didn’t give any extras of anything. This would have been nice, since a couple of the nuts were missing threads. Luckily I had some nuts that fit. The bolts are cheap, heads strip easily (even by hand). When mine was manufactured the quality control person must have been on break or didn’t care. There were a lot of “punch” tabs left in the holes and almost all the threaded holes had paint in them, making it hard to put together. After I started checking the holes (before assembly) things went a lot smoother. The frame was easy to construct, the instructions (which is just pictures with few hint words) don’t tell you to leave the bolts for the “arm and beam connecters” (brackets) finger tight. Leaving them finger tight makes installing the pp boards easier, then you can make adjustments to the arms as needed. The next issue is there is a paper in the box with the pp boards that says not to remove the protective film before assembly, which is wrong. I did that for the first 7 pp boards, it was a nightmare to remove the film. Ended up taking the boards back out to get it all off. When installing the second set of pp boards I took the protective film off each before installing. I had to use a couple of putty knives to get the boards in the middle board connector slots. I found using soap & water in a spray bottle let them go together much easier. I may have put them in upside down, don’t really know the instructions only tell you to make sure the “leak” holes are up. I put the wide side up; don’t have any idea of how I would have ever gotten the boards in the slots if I did it the other way. Even after attaching the frame to my porch posts it is still a little wobbly. I didn’t attach the roof to my house, wasn’t willing to drill holes in my siding. The braces that go on the front legs are sufficient, but could have been a little bigger (might have taken some of the wobble out). Also a couple of braces on the back leg might have helped, think I’ll look for something to use for braces. Over all might buy again. 1. No written instructions 2. Don’t lose parts 3. Check for punch tabs and paint on threads 4. No back let support if not attached to the house ... show more
