  • Excellent Laptop. Its expensive now but worth the money
I got this on sale for 1499.99 and was a steal. I had to mess around with the settings to get good power running on battery. I am able to do my work and homework for about 4-5 hours which is a huge improvement from my predator 17. This is my insurance replacement after my 2 year old laptop got stolen out of my car. which was a Predator 17. I am very happy I got this. Easy up-gradable SSD slots and ram. Wish they make a bigger battery. Overall 5 stars for me after playing on it for 2 days. They also did away with the awkward SSD slot for regular SSD Cards. You can now use 2 NVMe SSD cards in both slots. The laptop also have 2 open RAM slots. I bought the 3 year replacement warranty since Acer dropped their warranty down to 1 year. Than again I was told this laptop has 2 years. Anyways I got the warranty just in case. This laptop is no loss to me since Insurance replaced it but for what was replaced I am very happy. Update: Laptop is running flawless. I did have to update the video driver after wiping the hard drive. I upgraded the SSD to a 512GB and kept the 256. The mechanical drive is amazing and I think this mechanical drive is a hybrid SSD Seagate firecuda but can't confirm. After updating bios and get current video drivers for february 2019 the laptop is flawless. G-Sync works great since I still play some legacy games that needs the Direct-play option in Windows 10. The keyboard is lit blue instead of red and I really love the blue. the touch pad is more smooth but can get greasy if you are using the laptop and eating at same time or if you have oily hands. Overall it is easy to clean I would recommend finding this laptop if its for sale. If its for 1749.99 I would get it somewhere else. I seen it hit as low as 1499.99 here which I grabbed. Overall the laptop I bought for January 2019 works flawless. No memory leaks, no video driver issues and my FPS after updating drivers it jumped to max settings for CS and for WoW. ... show more

  • Do not buy a laptop from Acer.
I bought this gaming laptop from Amazon, I use this gaming laptop for one month. Just one month I faced critical problems from this laptop. 1. Memory leak - you can't web surfing properly with this laptop especially I faced serious memory leak with chrome internet program. Youtube, Facebook, and several programs couldn't read and road. 2. Video and graphics quality drop - when installing new Nvidia graphics driver updated and immediately, all games frame dropped. 3.USB connection trouble - I wish this problem just my case. What am I faced? When I running my laptop I always unplugged my Roccat Vulca 120 keyboard and Logitech G502 mouse and reconnect every single time. Even worst things Vulcan 120 keyboard update and install program every single time when I power on my laptop. 4. Operation programs incompleteness - Some of Acers own program is not working well with their product, especially Killer Control center, Killer Networking, and Predator program. These programs causing with Windows 10 and make glitch with other several programs in my case Roccat Swarm. Result I really like this laptop, awesome design, powerful hardware, nice soundboard, acceptable price and a couple of positive sides I see it, HOWEVER, even perfect hardware serious systematic problems have that hardware is meaningless. Before I bought this laptop I used Asus gaming laptop G75 Series I used it. In that time I never have any other problems. If someone plan to buy a new gaming laptop please consider seriously. I will use this laptop anyway and I do not regret my choice but next time plan to buy a new laptop, I will buy the Asus Republic of Game Gaming laptop series. Personally, I am really disappointed with this company. ... show more

  • After some use NO more sticker shock
Easily the best all around machine I have ever owned. I have built PCs, bought PCs/laptops. I am highly impressed with the out of the box performance. Highly impressed with the specs I got for the money. I can run Arma 3 with LOTS of mods from the SSD. I can run it at ULTRA settings with view distances maxed out at 60FPS. Multiplayer stuff usually ~50FPS view distances about 80-90%. My favorite thing about this machine is it's incredible ability to stay cool under high demand- lots of flexibility there too. I've had zero issues with heat. The speaker sound is pretty great for the size. Everything is easy to configure on a whim and I cant say enough about the performance. Definitely worth the ~$1900 I paid for it. ... show more

  • Maybe avoid Acer all together
Color: Gray
I really would avoid Acer. This was my second time trying acer and both had issues, so no more for me. This laptop, sold in June 2025 as "new", actually has a date of manufacture of 2022. In addition, after 6 months of very light use (daily emails, facebook messenger, reading news), the screen froze. After powering down then back up, the screen was black. Keyboard was lit, fan was running. Connected to my smarttv via hdmi, no signal going to tv. Took it to a tech, he said the ssd and controller were both dead. I moved to Portugal from USA after buying, and ACER portugal won't help. I am trying to figure out how to contact ACER usa but calling from here is very expensive so I'm trying to find email. I also have a windows 10 Acer Predator gaming laptop bought maybe 4-5 years ago. That one has shocked me from the day it was bought. It has an electrical charge on the metal case that tingles if your skin touches it when typing. Must be a grounding issue. Happened in both usa and portugal so it's not a source problem. I've put tape on the edges to insulate from my skin. Think I am about done with this company. And really surprised Amazon lets them sell something 3 years from manufacture date as "new" given how quickly electronics become obsolete/unsupported. ... show more

  • Powerful gaming laptop!
I used this laptop to game, stream, and podcast and it has been able to handle the heavy loads of work I've put it through. I've had it for almost 4 years now and I use it daily and it is still going strong and has no major issues. Cons: -Battery life is basically non existent if used for gaming or other high demand computer processes. -Can overheat if not properly ventilated. -Bulky and a little heavy for a laptop. -Not able to upgrade PC components. The cons are minimal and this machine will likely do everything you need it to. I personally would go the desktop route, if I could do it over, but if you NEED a powerful gaming laptop then this is the one for you. ... show more

  • Inadequate power-supply and borrows from battery and battery is small.
Let me start by saying this laptop is amazing I love almost everything about it. There is one issue that heavy users will have to deal with. There is a work around and once you understand the issue you can take steps to avoid it. I do not think this is a unique issue to this laptop and many others in its class have the same issue and wish these company's would address it. I really hate that I have to retract my 5 star review I really do love this laptop but it has a major issue for someone who likes to game for long hours such as myself. Battery drain wail gaming. This is a well known issue and usually isn't a problem where a laptop will max out its power-supply and borrow form the battery, but for this laptop its a major problem because of how short its battery life is. This laptop comes with a 230W power-supply which unfortunately is inadequate for its power draw while gaming for long hours. Once this laptop is below 40% It can only give 20-30 fps in demanding games. If you game for long hours and turn off your laptop without letting it charge back up when you get on the next time there will be insufficient battery to allow you to game and you will have to let your laptop charge for an hour before you can game again. This laptop is amazing but you will have to deal and work around this issue. The power supply for this laptop is to small for its power draw. Acer does sell a power-supply that is 330W and I contacted them to see if they could take my 230W power-supply and exchange it for the 330W and I would pay the difference but they declined this offer and I will have to pay $89 plus tax and shipping for the 330W. Its really disappointing that a almost $2000 gaming laptop doesn't come with an adequate power-supply. Edit: Turns out buying the 330w does not fix this issue but undervolting the cpu and gpu will. I have also heard others saying they do not have the issue I am having but when I was troubleshooting on the acer website I did find others that also had my problem. It mostly happens to people who are playing online shooters something about online play is draining the battery. I returned my laptop and I wish I had just kept it and just undervolted and underclocked it. Others have done this with good results. ... show more

  • Totally Disappointed!!!! :(
When I purchased this laptop I was expecting a rock solid laptop. However what I got is a totally throttling and overheating issues. Additionally the gpu fan has been making rattling noise recently... I am not even talking about sudden weird temp rises here and there. Sending it back to Acer support is going to cost me more than 300usd which doesnt make any sense as I am in a different country other than US. I am so disappointed now .. ... show more
