I now own four of these Megatron reels, 3000 thru 6000. I initially picked up the 6000 when putting together a king salmon rig for my wife. It is much lighter than the Penn Battle and older version Penn Pursuit 5000 I started her on. Combined with an 7' Ugly Stik Catfish rod it is a manageable weight for a combo she can fish for extended periods of time. I liked the 6000 so much that within a week I ordered the 5000. She got a king on the 5000 and lost a couple using the 6000, and in all cases the reels were up to the task. The spools are DEEP and hold a lot of line, in this case 80 lb. braid. Retrieval is incredibly smooth, the drag systems are POWERFUL, they are lightweight for their size, and they are attractive reels, leading to me picking up the 4000 and 3000 versions which will be used for coho salmon next month. The jury is still out on long-term durability, but I see nothing to indicate they won't last several years. I am thoroughly impressed with this Kastking reel, and highly recommend for beginners and seasoned anglers! ... show more

Oh my god, my first cast with this reel on a Berkley shock lightning rod 6’6 medium was absolutely flawless, and every cast after that! The bail is nice and thick and makes it easy for quick cast without fumbling the reel and rod.

If you don't want to spend 200+ on a saltwater reel to pull a big fish, this reel also does the job. However my turning cap stopped clicking sounds after a few months use
