  • Excellent for the price
Screen: Slightly wobbling in the middle, should have a stable stainless steel or aluminum bar across the bottom and top. System: Really fast, the GPU RTX only active when connected, it activate the 780M when in the battery. Keyboard: Feels sturdy and the regular use keys feels a regular detached keyboard, numbers are smaller, it’s a “slim” TKL keyboard basically ... show more

  • Incredible 50-series power for the price, but the screen is a bit of a compromise
I’ve been using the Acer Nitro V 17 AI for about two months now. I did a ton of research before ordering and I wanted to make sure I wasn't just buying in to the "AI" buzzword. After comparing it to a few other Blackwell-based laptops and looking at some benchmarks online, I’m confident this is one of the best value-per-frame machines you can get right now in 2026. Performance & Gaming (The Star of the Show) The combination of the Ryzen 7 260 and the RTX 5070 is a beast for 1080p gaming. I was worried about the "AI" branding, but that 798 AI TOPS rating actually makes a massive difference in games that support DLSS 4. I double-checked my frame rates in Red Dead Redemption 2 since that’s my benchmark gold standard. At 1080p Ultra settings, I’m consistently seeing between 125 and 138 FPS. It’s incredibly smooth—it practically pins the 144Hz refresh rate of the screen. In Cyberpunk 2077, using the new Path Tracing (Overdrive) mode with DLSS 4 Frame Gen, it holds a steady 82–86 FPS, which was unheard of for a "Value" line laptop a year or two ago. Even Star Wars Outlaws stays well above 100 FPS on high settings. Daily Use & "Tech" Details Having 32GB of DDR5 out of the box is a huge win. A lot of reviews for the lower-end Nitro models mention they only come with 16GB (sometimes in single-channel), which can bottleneck the CPU. This version feels much snappier. Thermals: It stays surprisingly quiet. In "Balanced" mode, the fans have a low hum rather than a high-pitched whine. Under heavy load, the GPU stays around 75°C, which is very respectable for a 17-inch chassis. Wi-Fi 6E: I’m getting my full gigabit speeds across the house, which made downloading that 120GB Red Dead install much less painful. The Compromise: The Screen This is where you can tell Acer saved some money to hit the price point. The 17.3" IPS LCD is "fine," but it’s not "great." Brightness: It maxes out at around 300 nits. If you’re in a room with a lot of sunlight, it can feel a bit washed out. You really need to be in a controlled lighting environment to see the detail in dark games. LCD vs. LED/OLED: Since the RTX 5070 is powerful enough to handle such high-fidelity visuals, the lack of a Mini-LED or OLED screen is noticeable. The blacks are more of a dark charcoal gray. I really wish Acer offered an LED option for this specific model; it would have made those 50-series graphics truly "pop." Final Verdict If you are buying this for the raw specs—the Ryzen 7 260 and that RTX 5070—you will be thrilled. You’re getting top-tier performance that usually costs $1,800+ in the "Premium" brands. Just be aware that you’re trading screen brightness and contrast for that raw power. For me, the trade-off was worth it. Pros: - Absolute beast for 1080p gaming (130+ FPS in RDR2). - DLSS 4 performance is a genuine generational leap. - 32GB RAM and 1TB Gen 4 SSD are perfect for 2026 gaming. Runs cooler and quieter than previous Nitro models I’ve seen. Cons: - The screen is too dim for bright rooms. - IPS panel lacks the contrast of an LED or OLED. If you game in a bedroom or a den, this is a 5-star purchase. If you plan to work/play in a bright coffee shop, maybe keep looking. ... show more

  • Solid laptop for computer science college student
It was more than sufficient for a college student. - Lightning fast, can play games like sims or of course, take notes in class while having 50 tabs open. - Build quality is decent. It's not macbook but asides from a little screen wobble the remainder is solid aluminum. - Only downside is it's very large and doesn't fit some backpacks but for serious computer science gamer students it's still worth it. - Weight for this size of laptop and power is admirable. - Pretty quiet for the good performance, doesn't disturb roommates. The fans kick in if you start doing heavy duty work but it doesn't sound like a jet engine. - Appearance is pretty good. Again, not a macbook, but also not an embarrassment. ** I do not write my reviews with AI, I just know how to spell and use grammar :) Thanks for reading! ** ... show more

  • Amazing Gaming Laptop
Long story short, I'm very impressed with this gaming laptop and I believe that if someone wants to use it as their primary gaming device they will be more than happy. The built quality is very decent like any gaming laptop in this price range. Everything feels very sturdy except for the screen which has a little bit of flex and you can tell that the top cover is plastic instead of aluminum. Other than that the laptop body is very sturdy, comparable to the old Predator Helios. The hinges on the screen are very solid and the action of opening and closing the lid is very smooth. Now I want to address the only real issue that I found with this laptop, that once again, at this price point is to be expected, the screen quality. It is not a terrible screen, but it is not great either. From the start you need to do some color adjustments because the colors look very washed out. But nothing that you can't fix by playing with the AMD settings (this laptop uses AMD as the integrated / screen GPU). The brightness levels are not that great compared to the Predator series, but it is good enough at least to use it while inside of a house/building. Having said that I strongly recommend using this laptop with an external monitor that is where it shines. Now for the pros, this laptop is a powerhouse. The RTX 5070 works amazingly well for games and for AI media generation, which for the price of this laptop is very hard to beat. I will say tho, that you definitely must use this laptop connected to the power adapter if you are planning to play games or do any AI / GPU intensive work because it will throttle hard. I did noticed some speed degradation while I was using it on battery, but moistly doing heavy intensive tasks. The battery life is decent if you are not using it for gaming. I have seen it last a couple hours while watching video or doing coding, but like I said, this laptop is meant to be used with the charger because of the demanding components. The speakers are not bad at all, I'm very impressed with them. You may need to adjust the equalizer to your liking but overall I'm very satisfied with the audio levels it can output. Not super heavy but not super light either, carry it all day in your back and you definitely are going to feel it. One thing I need to mention that I absolutely love in this laptop is that the power brick is way smaller/slimmer than other gaming laptops which contribute to reduced weight when transporting it. Also it charges decently fast. The webcam is ok, nothing fancy about it and is not that great under low light situation. If you are planning to stream using this laptop, I would suggest getting an external webcam with better quality. I haven't notice any overheating after long gaming sessions mostly because of the fans. While they are not incredibly loud you do notice them running once they kick in. The keyboard is very nice, there is good feedback in the keys and after using it for a couple hours my fingers feel ok. Windows 11 is very responsive and the 144hz panel does make it feel very fluid. I have connected it to an ultra wide QHD monitor through HDMI and I must say it works great. Tried to connect the monitor through USB-C but it started lagging when playing games, so if you do demanding things I would suggest sticking to HDMI, tho you have the option to use USB-C if you are using it for productivity. Also it is very nice that you can charge it through USB if you need it, but depending on what you are doing might not be enough charge. My only other small complaint is that it doesn't have a fingerprint reader which would have been nice for an additional more secure biometric but once again can't ask too much at this price point. Overall this is an amazing laptop for gaming, productivity and AI work which definitely excels in all this area, and while you understand that is not going to have the best screen I think is a great work/gaming laptop and I will definitely recommend it. ... show more
