  • One of the best Chromebooks ( and laptops ) on the market today
I was in the market for a new laptop because my old Acer Aspire laptop died on me last month after 8 years of heavy-duty use every day. I didn't know what to expect as far as laptops go but I did my research and weighed all my options, and at the end of the day I decided to buy a Chromebook even though I didn't even know what they were and if they were any good. I am happy to say I made the right decision and that this is one of the better Chromebooks you can buy on the market. First of all I would like to say that I am an aspiring writer and and I have a web presence on various reviewer sites on the Net. I also have 2 blogs and I write SOMETHING every day, so I needed something that was good for writing. I Googled " best laptops for writing " and I also Googled " best laptops overall ", and " best laptops 2019 ", and THIS CHROMEBOOK ALWAYS CAME UP! At the price point it was a no-brainer to buy it and set-up right out of the box was simple, straightforward and it works hand-in-hand seamlessly with your Google account, and if you know how to use Chrome ( like I do ) this laptop is a dream for you. The only thing I don't like ( that I recently found out is something that happens quite a bit across ALL Google Chromebooks ) is that the video sometimes freezes up so it's kinda hard to watch any sort of extended video for a while but I'm sure if I had bought a more powerful device that problem would have been remedied. All in all I am EXTREMELY happy with my purchase and I even am already thinking about buying a 2nd Chromebook this December. You won't be disappointed with your purchase if you buy this Chromebook! ... show more

  • After Several Chromebooks - This is THE ONE
I was super excited to find this chromebook after searching through Amazon's extensive offerings. It's a bit strange that this one isn't advertised more, but if you can find it -- snag one immediately! It's perfect for those that are budget conscious but still want those quality of life offerings by more expensive devices. I think the best features would be the super quiet keyboard with backlit keys and the massive screen. You're also getting a balanced set of ports with USBC and USBA on either side of the device. The only downfall is that you aren't running a super fast processor but with this being ChromeOS, it's absolutely not needed. This is THE best college laptop ever. Best Features Include: Buttery smooth glass trackpad! (It's so difficult to find this around a $350 price-range) Quiet chiclet style keyboard with backlit keys! (Again, difficult to find in this price-range) 1080p anti-reflective *NONTOUCH* screen. (Huge, gorgeous, and bright) Aluminum build with Macbook-like aesthetics. 1 USBC port on both sides of the devices (2 total) 1 USBA port on both sides of the device (2 total) All-day battery life (10ish hours) Get one if you're in school. You won't regret it! ... show more

  • Bought this to travel with.
Pros: light weight; battery lasts at least 7 hours (haven't tested it beyond that); good picture and sound for movies (though I'm not picky); comes with the Google basics; set up was fairly simple (66 yo with some knowledge and a son-in-law for tech help). Cons: Biggest one is the screen goes black, every once in a while, without any rhyme or reason and difficult to restart. I'm now used to this, but find it annoying and frustrating. Other information: Not a whole lot of memory, but I just use a dual memory stick to carry files, and anything else. Must be a dual memory stick because there's only one USB port. I couldn't give it 5 stars because of the screen going black. Overall It does what I bought it for. ... show more

  • Black Friday Deal
I really like the overall look of this chrome book . I've never owned one before. I'm trying to figure out how it works. It seems to operate like a big tablet. It was described as being a touchscreen model, but I don't see any evidence of that being the case. I noticed that there are many apps that are not compatible with this operating system. I'm sure that given time to explore and discover the ins and outs of this chrome book, I will be a pro. I bought this as a black Friday deal. So far I'm optimistic about this purchase. I would recommend. The battery life is good, I haven't confirmed it to specs. It is quite light weight. I'm still trying to find the touch screen function. If I find a real problem that is not due to "ID10t" I will update this review at that time. Arrived packaged well and delivery was spot on as always. Came sooner than expected. Nothing was cracked or broken. 💘 love my. Amazon! ... show more

  • My second Chromebook 14
I bought a renewed Chromebook 14 in 2017. My brother kept using it, and so I eventually wiped the drive and gave it to him. I replaced the 2017 model with this new model bought in 2021. I have several other windows computers. I use the Chromebook to travel and write in Google Docs which I also like a lot. I like being able to get on any machine and just type in a password and my work is there. As a writer, I also like an inexpensive computer that is always ready to go. I guess I drank the Google kool-aid, but other windows systems, like using Dropbox have a lot of problems including they want to charge you extra to use them. I love google drive. I can make subfolders and keep so much more documents than any other service. Chromebook is so simple and well made (fast) for a less than 500$ computer. ... show more

  • Do not buy this Chromebook in 2024/2025
I have this Chromebook. This thing will be 4 years old in April 2025. It is SLOW and you cannot upgrade this model with more ram, etc. 4GB of ram is not enough. For example, my YouTube subscription page takes over 20 seconds to fully load all video previews. The support is also done for this model - it is no longer receiving updates. I paid $328, 3.5 years ago, so an asking price of $309, is absolutely ridiculous. Anything over $50 is too much for this, even if you're buying it for a child. 32GB of storage is also horrible and cannot be upgraded. Don't buy this thing. ... show more
