  • Works like new again/ no more adding fluid
Put this into my 2003 Chevy suburban and the brake booster is now back to normal without leaking. I first tried using a seal kit rebuild and it failed. Working on things is not new to me and I did a real good job but the seals are old and dry in most seal kits from sitting on shelves for years. I recommend replacing the whole unit as the labor is not easy. Your have to work under your dash and you don't really want to be doing this twice. Once I put in the new AC Delco Brake Booster my problems went away. All good and it's been installed for 6 months now. Good luck. ... show more

  • New is the way to go!
After buying a rebuild kit for my original one, and watching it leak. Then installing two different rebuilt units, and watching both of them leak. I found this for only $60 more than the rebuilt ones. This comes completely assembled where the rebuilt ones have several frustrating parts you have to remove from the original booster and install on the replacement. The new unit is definitely how I would go if I had to start over. It has only been on a week and will update if it starts leaking. The rebuilt ones leaked the first day they were on, so I believe this one is going to be okay. ... show more

  • It works
Even though this is a prime item, it took 6 days to arrive, but the good news is that it worked. I got 2 remanufactured Hydroboost unites from parts stores before getting this new one. The remanufactured unites were as expensive as this one and did not work. When I would put on the brakes, the steering was basically locked up. Tried everything to get air out of the remanufactured ones and nothing worked. Bought this one and it worked like the original as soon as it was put on. Would definitely recommend buying this new unit over the remanufactured unites. The Remanufactured unites resulted in me not being able to use my truck for 2 weeks. This unit was put on a 2003 GMC 2500HD Duramax ... show more

  • I'm not sure why Amazon cannot do a better job when it comes to shipping heavy
The part I received is original AC Delco/GM. Unfortunately, it did not come with replacement o-rings for the supply and return ports so I had to make a trip to the local GM dealer for the O-rings. Thus I only gave it 4 stars rather than 5. The most difficult aspect of removing the old part and installing the new part was removing the 4 nuts inside the firewall, under the dashboard. On my 2005 Suburban there is very little room to access the 4 nuts. Removing the nuts required a deep 15mm socket, a flexible u-joint on the socket and over 10" of extension. Search the internet for videos and you will find information on removing and installing a GM hydraulic brake booster. A second aspect of my 4 vs. 4 start rating relates to packaging... Bear in mind the part is heavy and there are bolts protruding from one end and the brake pedal rod protrudes from the other end. In addition the large rectangular mounting flange also creates a packing challenge. Add to all that, the fact that this is a hydraulic component and was tested with fluid at the factory so there could be residual fluid in the part when it's shipped. With that in mind, Amazon (or their supplier), did an okay job with packaging - not fabulous. The part was inside a plastic bag and was further wrapped and supported by a significant amount of brown paper packing material. The part arrived without damage but it was ever so close to breaking through the cardboard box. I'm not sure why Amazon cannot do a better job when it comes to shipping heavy, odd-shaped, parts. ... show more
