I had this on my list for quite some time, and finally after quite some time, I pulled the trigger and I'm really glad I did. This is an awesome player and region free to boot, plays both region A and B blu ray discs. The ad says Blu ray region A DVD all regions, But please be assured it does in fact play Region B blu ray as well. The directions to go from region A to B are on the front cover of the manual. There is another version that is Region A only. That one is priced a little bit lower. If your looking a region free bluray player, look no further!

Well, as the title of this review says: "It'll do." The first one of these Fangor players arrived with a remote that didn't function. Amazon made the online return quick and easy (although I had to return the entire package, not just the remote). They had a replacement player in the mail to me before the broken one was returned - so that was great. So far I'd give this Bluray player an overall rating of "OK." Not great. The build quality (once I got one that worked) is OK. The picture quality is less than what you would get on a computer laptop screen and far less that what you'd see on an HD television. The image on my player is contrasty, with artifacts in the image similar to what you'd get if you were watching an inferior streaming service. Certainly viewable and not distracting, though. The Bluray discs load fairly quickly in a matter of seconds (I've found some home theater Bluray players are more like booting-up a computer when loading a disc; this player is faster than that). There is an initial set-up when you use the player for the first time but it's literally two clicks to select the language for the player and you're ready to go. The control buttons are on either side of the pop-up disc door. The layout doesn't seem very intuitive - the buttons are all the same and placed in a sort of zig-zag pattern - but I'm not sure I could suggest anything better. As far as the remote goes, the buttons are tiny but it works. The buttons are not back-light, which is less than ideal in a typically dark viewing environment.. There is no way to adjust things like brightness, contrast and saturation (that I can find) for the screen, which is a shame because my experience has been that not all discs look the same when viewed on my home theater set-up and can do with some tweaking from movie to movie. The sound quality on this little player is sub-par. There seems to be virtually no dynamic range on the speakers, although at least there are two of them for stereo (located in the handle and perhaps 1" in diameter). There is an HDMI output but no HDMI cable included in the box. It does come with a cable with RCA audio and video connections for connecting to televisions without using HDMI. The player comes with an AC power supply with interchangeable connectors for international use (a two prong U.S. connector and two other options). Having said all this negative stuff, the unit DOES work and will playback Bluray discs. The ability to watch Bluray movies on the fairly large built-in screen or connect to a television via HDMI is a big plus. The reality is, there are not a whole lot of choices in the marketplace if you want a portable player for Bluray discs. That's why I chose this player and it does the job.

Was a little hesitant to get this blu ray player because of the cost, however it does have some features that are hard to find in a portable blu ray player this size. I like the fact that it will play foreign blu ray discs which will give you more purchasing options on certain film and program titles that are on DVD and blu ray. Love the built-in handle to use to carry it around since I don't have a bag or case to carry it in. The speakers are great for a unit this size and the picture is great. I don't expect mind-blowing HI-FI audio for a portable player this size. Some reviews here are complaining that it isn't real 1080p on the portable screen and that it is 720p. All I can say is that the picture quality looks great as far as I'm concerned for a screen of it's size. I am still figuring out some of the screen menus but so far it has met my expectations for a portable player that plays my blu rays and DVDs. The only drawbacks I can think of which are minor to me are that I don't see an off button on the remote. The unit does not have bluetooth or wifi and there is no indicator to see how much battery life is in the unit. It may take some looking to find a case for this blu ray player as there are not many made this size and most bags and cases designed for portable players are for players with screens 10 to 11 inches in diameter. A few reviews including myself has said this unit seems to be on the pricey side; however I bought it anyway since I don't use streaming services much and prefer physical copy media and wanted a good player.

Like my headline says, I'm so glad I got this FANGOR 13.3" Portable Bluray Player. I don't know if there are a lot of players that play region free blurays AND DVDs. But this one does. I like the screen, and... I especially like the memory feature. (You have to press a button on your remote control. Fangor then remembers where you left off on your disc if you have to stop early. The button isn't on the player itself. And if you don't press the button, the player won't resume where you left off.) FULL DISCLOSURE: When you purchase the product, Fandor offers to give you a free bag for the player or a $25 gift card if you leave an honest review. But I am leaving an honest review. (If I didn't like the product, I would say so.) To piggyback off of what I said about the bag: If you choose to forego leaving a review, I would recommend purchasing one. The player comes with a charger, remote control and a car charger. It's helpful to have a bag to carry these in one place to ensure none get lost. (Again, you can get a free bag if you leave a review.) Again, I highly recommend this product. I had hesitated getting it but I'm glad I invested in it. I want to increase my movie education as a first time filmmaker, and some of the discs I own (such as the ones produced in Europe) don't always play in my player that can only play discs made for the USA. (I should add it's also convenient to have this product when I'm charging my hybrid car, which takes about 2 hours to do at a charging station. Unfortunately, my MacBook Pro can play my non-USA discs only once. So for me, this product is super convenient.) In addition, the price is very reasonable. I highly recommend the product.

When I first opened the box and took out the player, I was dismayed by its size. I was used to a player, bigger and heavier, the same size or bigger than my laptop. But I soon came to appreciate the lightweight convenient smaller size. I hardly ever use the bigger player these days. And that’s only one good thing. The picture and sound of DVDs in this device are uniformly superb, even on home made disks. And I didn’t see this mentioned in the official description (did I miss it?), but it plays disks from Europe. Having a multi-region player opens up a lot of viewing horizons previously denied me (a few of my favorite “vintage “ TV shows on disk are only available in Europe’s PAL format. Now I can watch). The battery stays charged for a long time. More than once, I’ve fallen asleep laying flat on the sofa with the player propped up on my chest watching a movie. While there are basic controls on the player itself (up down play stop fast forward, etc.), the remote contains all functions. This would be absolutely ideal to take on vacations where the kids are stuck in the car for long drives. If I’ve missed anything in my review, feel free to ask me. I can’t recommend it highly enough. I’d give it ten stars if they’d let me!
