Description

Want true, heart-throbbing romance? Put down the Cheetos, and stop being a jackass. The question is, can I do it? I’ve been an epic dick to my friends, my uncle. Him. Travis Hunter. Photographer, econ-student, paraplegic. Can I redeem myself? Apologize? Make a fresh start? Hunter seems to think so. Even roped me into saving his favorite gazebo from the bulldozers. The confidence of this man amazes me. He’s no bullshit where I’m all bullshit. I throw up walls where he knocks them down. He’s beautiful, too. Strong arms inked with hummingbirds, a wide teasing mouth, and blue eyes that read me like an open book. He looks at me, and I look away. These shivery feelings I have for Hunter? They can’t happen. I don’t deserve him. Where did I put those Cheetos? ~ ~ ~ "Marc Jillson & The Gazebo" is a sweet, sexy M/M romance with humor and a definite HEA. This New Adult, college, redemption story is book two in the "Love Inscribed" series. I recently read book 1 in this series and I found this to be an interesting and emotional read for me, with a few surprises that I wasn't expecting. I enjoyed this book a bit more than the first one, but I did enjoyed seeing Quinn and Liam in this book and learning a bit more about them from a different characters perspective. *Spoilers* I really did enjoy reading this book. I feel like I understand Marc a lot better compared to book 1 and I feel a bit bad for him with all the things he went through. With his mother suddenly dying, his father abandoning him at 16, his anger issues and he was also possibly in denial or something about being gay since he wasn't up front about it and seemed to despise how Jason was openly gay, and then he started crushing on the wrong guy who has his own issues. It was a lot for him to take, and took him making a lot of mistakes to figure himself out, and even more time to learn to forgive himself and allow himself to fall in love, trust other people, and to be vulnerable. I think Hunter and Marc are a good fit for each other and I could feel this connection they had. I love the fact that they played that game all summer - and continued to play the game together - and got to know each other that way, so it felt more like a gradual process than an abrupt transition to them messing around to when they started dating. I was honestly surprised like everyone else that Uncle Ben was actually Chief Benedict, and was related to Marc, which makes their interactions - such as when he switched Marc from the party page to a different page of the Scribe - a bit different. I actually really liked Chief Benedict in book 1 as in a way, he was more of a father figure to Liam than his own father was with how he wanted to help and push Liam - along with everyone else - to grow in their journalism, and was concerned about him on a more personal level. I am sad that things happened between Jason and Uncle Ben, but I do sort of agree that it wasn't entirely Marc's fault that they separated. I think if both of them had been more up front with what they actually wanted then I think they would have stayed together. But I think there was also a lot of changes going on and everything just kind of happened. I don't really know if they both blame Marc in some way with how he treated them or with the fact that he was part of the reason they stayed apart, but I could tell that no matter what had happened, Uncle Ben loved and cared about Marc, and I'm pretty sure Jason knew that. I am hoping that Marc was able to strengthen his relationship with his uncle and his boyfriend after he moved out and is on a lot better terms with them now. I did like seeing Liam and Marc getting along and actually having a proper conversation. Especially that scene in the bar. I did think that maybe Liam was a bit autistic of some sort with how he doesn't really understand emotions very well and a lot of other things, kind of made me wonder but I don't recall it ever being mentioned or questioned in book 1. So it was nice that it was confirmed in this book. I find it interesting that despite how Marc behaved or accidentally worded things, he actually had quite a few people either crushing on him or stating he was good looking. Liam mentioned something about his good looks, Tyler was crushing on him in this book, and Hunter thought he was good looking to. I did find Tyler to be an interesting character and I felt a bit bad for him that his crush on Marc was one sided and how Marc treated him in the very beginning, but I am glad that Marc and Tyler will remain as friends. I did see that there might be a book about Tyler coming out in December and I'm guessing it might be Tyler with the jock he was seen with at the Farwell Gazebo party. So I'm looking forward to learning more about Tyler in his book. I am also happy with the ending. The only things I wish could have gone into a bit more depth would have been on how old Marc had been before his mother died and more on his relationship with his uncle (and maybe with Jason as well) before and after he got together with Hunter. I also wouldn't have minded more scenes with Liam/Quinn and Hunter/Marc. Also, does Marc have any type of relationship with his father of did his father cut all tied with him? I also don't understand what Jack was trying to do with sending that letter to Marc. and I might have liked to see a bit more of Kyle and Victor since they spent I don't know how many years apart and they just seemed cute together even though it's a bit bittersweet thinking about the years they lost with each other when they could have been together. I also would have liked learning more about Marc when his mother was alive and if he had any relationship with his uncle during that time. From what I understand, I figured Marc was probably closer to his mother than his father. I also don't know which side of the family his uncle is from, unless I had missed reading something. ... show more

  • So sweet!
Format: Kindle
I got so many heart-full feels with this book! It’s a story with hope, love, positivity, and second chances. I adored Hunter so much. The way he saw another side of Marc was positive and lovely. It was just what Marc needed to be able to move forward. The ending will give you all the happy feels. I did not read Liam Davis and The Raven prior to this one, but that will be rectified very soon. ... show more

  • ❌ here lays a treasure
Format: Kindle
5 stars I reread this wonderful series after 5 years and I loved it even more than I had then. Then, I had given them 4 stars each, but after a few hundreds MM romance books I’m a different reader, and I know what a true treasure these books are. Anyta’s writing is as fresh and unique and beautiful as always, her characters are complex and oh-so lovable and storytelling is so, so good. All the topics are important and handled with the utmost grace. Marc & Hunter’s love story might be one of my favorites, ever. Giving Marc a redemption arc, a chance to right his wrongs, be a better person and show his true beautiful colors with Hunter, the guy who sees him and motivates him, is what I love reading about. SO happy that Tyler’s book is in the works and whenever it comes, I’ll come running to read it. Hopefully there’ll be more stories to come in this series, not to be greedy or anything. 😁 These books just bring so much good to the world and we need it, especially now. ... show more

  • A sweet love story!❤️
Format: Kindle
I wasn’t sure what to expect from the title and cover of this book. I was pleasantly surprised when the story ended up being a very enjoyable and unusual love story. I loved Hunter and his patience and understanding of Marc and his insecurities. Since I haven’t read Liam and Quinn’s story, that is next on the list! I definitely recommend this book and even though Liam and Quinn appear in the story, it can be read as a stand alone. I’m off to buy Liam & Quinn’s story now!!!❤️ ... show more

  • Such a good read
Format: Kindle
I do think you can best appreciate how far down Marc Jillson has gone, and how much he needs to be redeemed if you read the first book in the series: Liam Davis and the Raven. That said, getting his backstory in this book does make him a compelling character for whom I want to find happiness. The challenges that Marc and Hunter face are echoed in two other couples that give them a powerful frame of reference for the consequences of being too afraid to fight for happiness. There is a great depth to the themes of letting fear get in the way of happiness, and making the decision to be worthy of happiness. Just as in most of Sunday's work, there is witty dialogue, smart characters who are a little emotionally clueless, smoldering chemistry that burns brighter ever so gradually, and everyone does the hard work of earning their HEA. I'm hoping we get to know more about Tyler Bentley in the next book. ... show more

  • What a frakking awesome book!
Format: Kindle
This is the second book in a New adult/college romance and needs to be read in order. God I love this series! It’s full of nerdy men falling in love and the challenges they face. This one is is about Marc and Hunter from book one, and it’s really about redemption and finding value in one’s self too. The author brilliantly writes of an inter-abled couple from the beginning, worts, worries, and all! I hope more authors will explore these relationship dynamics in the future! ... show more

  • 3.5 stars of sweet, loving, well written sap
Format: Kindle
Manages to be low angst, emotionally engaging, subtlety mesmerizing. On the surface, it looks simple but, as with so many of Anyta Sunday’s books, there’s beautiful depth here.
