Heavy, expensive. The key would not open the lock initially. Turns out that if you don't insert the key all the way, you can still turn the key but it will not open. 1mm can make the difference. Very confusing. The mount bracket seems very well designed. Extremely versatile, rubber in contact with frame protects your paint. The alarm is loud without being painful. High pitch and irritating. Just what I wanted. Security is moderate. If you are prepared you could break this in under a minute. The alarm would go off in the meantime drawing some nearby attention. Seems OK for a short trip into a store or cafe in a public area. I would not trust it for an entire workday or overnight unless close by. ... show more

    • Very good bike lock with touchy alarm, really needs more alarm settings, perhaps with an app and Bluetooth?
Very good bike lock with a bit touchy alarm that makes it an excellent lock for theft deterrence in moderately well trafficked areas! Pretty heavy duty and well constructed. However in general use, our Bluetooth interfaced NuLock has a less secure physical cable lock with a better vibration detecting alarm along with an app to remotely set alarm. Here are our usual pros/cons starting with the good side: + good security ratings and reviews for the base ABUS Bordo 6000 folding lock + alarm is simple to activate and does a decent job of giving warning alarms to being jostled a bit + great packaging with nice case + soft coating dies a good job at avoiding chipping paint and some cons: - wish we could disable the alarm for use on trips securing bike to car bike rack! Have to take off and on constantly! - hard to get keys made - Abus support non-responsive; losing the packaging and a key left us with one key and no response from vendor because we didn't have the key code! - needs an app or other way to change settings and selectively disable the alarm while remaining physically locked So we like this lock but actually find the ABUS Bordo 6150 combination lock more useful along with a NuLock alarm cable lock. This mix of locks is cheaper and has no key to lose. ... show more
