    • My go-to spinning rod
Of the thirty-some rods in my collection, the most common and frequently used is the Vendette Spinning 7-foot one-piece medium-heavy. I’ve configured most with a 30-series reel and 20# braided line. The response is excellent and the ability to feel strikes is fantastic. OK, they are a bit delicate especially if you compare them to a solid fiberglass “unbreakable” fence post. Over the past four years, several eyelets failed and one tip was broken (all were easily repaired using eyelet kits available on Amazon). One pole broke when accidently bent over a boat rail while working a large channel cat and another broke when grabbed mid-shaft in an attempt to free it from stuck on rocks. My personal favorite pole has a repaired second eyelet but has caught more fish than the rest of my poles combine. The season just getting underway here, I’ve ordered two more Vendette for the collection (incidentally, the newer versions have slightly smaller eyelets than the prior generation). Anybody on the boat who has accidently cast with one of my Vendette rigs immediately turns back at me with that cat-who-ate-the-canary grin as they come to realize why I consistently catch more fish than anybody else on the boat. When neighbors want to borrow gear to take their kids fishing, I don’t loan out the Vendette’s. But when I’m buying a serious fisherman a gift its my go-to option. Happy fishing. ... show more

Just what I was looking for to throw a ned rig and trick worm. Nice styling and really nice feel. Light weight with a solid backbone. Great for skipping lighter baits.

    • Eyelets broke in two places.
Approaching a year with this rod. Bought it because I had the REVOx Abu Garcia reel. It was a one pc rod as well. Two of the top eyelets broke (disintegrated) leaving just metal exposed which ultimately cuts my line. This rod wasn't beaten up either. If this can't handle a year of wear and tear, I would not recommend this to anyone else. I have since bought a two-piece ugly stick elite (2pc) 7ft rod. ... show more

    • Rod broke/AG sent a new one
I bought this rod despite the handful of reviews that stated it breaks with normal usage. On the very first fish I caught, the pole snapped. I have never seen anything like this with any type of fishing rod. There has to be some sort of structural defect with it. I reached out to Abu Garcia customer service via email as their website suggests with no reply for two weeks. I tried calling customer service, was on hold for 30 minutes, and then forwarded to someones voicemail. Update- I finally got through to customer service and they sent out a new rod.
