Typical Abu Garcia Revo quality. This is my fourth within this line, and it works flawlessly like all of the others. It makes long casts with little to no backlash, even when casting Vibrax spinners with blades that provide natural braking in the air, much like a stiff headwind. Many of my lower end bait casters will backlash at that moment as the spool outruns the lure. But not the Revo X which obviously has a fine tuned, efficient braking system. Their best mass produced reel ever. I use on freshwater, great with a 5-10lb braid. Can’t guarantee it’ll help you catch more fish but you won’t be untangling birds nests.

I have been using bait casters for a few years now and have caught lots of bass on them. Al my bait casters have been Kast king reels since they are cheap, or were, and i was a beginner. This is my first $100 reel and i will tell you it is worth every penny. It blows my kk assassin (which is defective) out of the water. It is a bit heavier but it backlashes less and casts farther than any other real i own, even my other abu garcia pro max spinner. it comes with bearing lubricant which is a plus. I own all abu garcia rods which i swear by so this rod match up quit good. don't mess around with cheap amazon brands, and if you are unsure about shipping damage then buy from store, nothing wrong with that. The reel reason not to mess with cheap brands is maintenance capabilities. The maintenance door is highly designed and well thought out. on cheap knock off brands they will have better drag, lighter weight and look cool but long term performance they will break down faster and usually break apart when you disassemble for cleaning or installing replacement parts. All in all this reel is way better than i thought it would be and makes me want to save up for one of their higher end models. ... show more

Casts like a dream. Love the feel of this reel. Took it to the yard straight away for some test casts despite the weather. Can't wait for the snow to go away so I can REELy put it to the test (excuse my cheesy pun). Update: been using this reel for a while now. Hands down my favorite setup among my other reels. Very fun to cast, quick and efficient. Only issue I’ve run into is the handle is a bit loose because the nut seems to be stripped out (seen others complain about this too, may be a common defect). Update of my update: I bought an Abu Black Max not too long after this... guess what? The nut is compatible between the two. I switched them wanting to see if I could get the better of the two reels handle tight. Not only did it work like a dream and now my Revo handle is steady and true, but the nut that was loose on the Revo is perfectly tight on the Black Max LOL. ... show more

I've been using this reel for a couple months now and I haven't had any issues with it. The build quality is definitely there. I got this reel on sale for $75 so if you guys can be patient and just hold out for a sale, that would be my advice as alot of abu garcias go on sale here all the time. I picked up a revo beast 40 before this guy and I'm just pleased with what you get for your money. There are a few people that have had issues with the side covers of these reels popping open. It does take a bit of force to pop the side cover off so I wouldn't worry unless your hand positioning is right on the lever that releases the side cover. Will update this review if I come across anything abnormal or if I experience any failures. ... show more
