This grab bar works on an adjustable base bed. The instructions were clear on how to attach it to an adjustable bed and I also looked up the video. I purchased a 2nd one for the other side and it works to attach them both.

This product is advertised as being good for most adjustable beds, something most rails are not compatible with. While it does accommodate adjustable beds, it cannot be installed as instructed on SleepNumber beds. The frame uses straps for standard beds, but requires you to screw into the platform of an adjustable bed. This is the problem. SleepNumber adjustable beds don't have a platform frame to screw into, nor does the mattress separate from the platform enough to use a screw gun. We were able to retrofit it using the straps toward the middle of the SleepNumber bed however, it's not a great solution. I find it peculiar that it advertises as "fits most adjustable beds" yet SleepNumber (the major adjustable bed manufacturer in the US) isn't supported based on the manufacturers installation requirements. Even the manufacturers answers to another persons SleepNumber question makes you think it's compatible. But I can attest that it is not compatible. We may return it since it's not quite as advertised, and may not be safe as is, we haven't yet decided. That said, it's not a bad product if you don't have a SleepNumber bed, just not a realistic solution for SleepNumber people.

I was VERY happily surprised with the sturdiness of these bed rails. The one button release makes it very easy for the Home Care Aids to use. Once you take off the rails there is only a little upright bar on the side of the bed. This makes it very easy and clear to get in an out of the bed. I used 2 on one side of an adjustable bed. The platform for the bed is made up of various sized wood(?) articulated sections under cloth. The screws that came with it did not securely anchor the rails since I think the platform is more of a composite and not regular wood. I used some #6 bolts, washers, and nuts and it is now extremely secure. Since there was two different angles that each arm support could be set up, it could be installed on one of the smaller sections.

Be sure when you line them up that you push the rail all the way up next to the bed and have it extended. THat way you will not screw it down with space between rail and mattress!!! My husband had a severe form of very aggressive dementia and was very strong. He was not able to damage the rails no matter how hard he pulled on them! These were essential in keeping him safe from the awful things his brain was doing to him. I highly recommend these if you have an adjustable bed. They are definitely worth the money

I thought, as a nurse, that there would be 2 side rails included, especially for 180$. I was very wrong. It’s an okay product, installs easily enough, but was just disappointed I’ll have to buy a second one to provide security for my moms bed on both sides. Some parts are plastic as well, and I’d hate to test that 300 lb weight theory.
