To keep this review accurate I need to admit that you do get a very close shave. I have been using the Skull Shaver for two years and this definitely gets you a closer shave, and it's a bit better in those troublesome contours behind your ears. That said I this shaver caused pain and irritation. When shaving the top and sides of my head there was no issue, but the back of my head and neck were a major issue. Also, even though the shaver has those grooves on the sides, it's not easy to hold, but I followed the instructions to a T. I made sure to use light pressure and just let the shaver glide. I did the best I could to keep it at a 90 degree angle when shaving the back of head and back of my neck, but it keep feeling like it was pinching the skin. You can see in the picture the irritation and it was pretty painful. It almost felt like a burn. I had to rub neosporin all over it. The Skull Shaver isn't perfect. You don't get as close of a shave as this, you do have go back over areas more than this one and it does leave behind straggler hairs sometimes, but it never hurts and it's much easier to hold and shave with.

Closer shave than rotatory shavers and trimmers

I'm new to shaving my head and I experimented with a couple of rotatory razors. I wasn't satisfied with the results with either of the two rotatory razors I purchased in terms of closeness. So, I researched other options and ran across the Aberlite Touch 2 (AT2) Foil Head Shaver and thought I'd give it try. I'm so glad I did. For me it exceeds the rotatory shavers that I have. First and foremost, it provides a much closer shave than the rotatory shavers I own. With the rotatory shavers I was having to follow with a razor blade to get the closeness that I want. With the AT2, I don't have to user a razor blade for my daily shaving routine. I will use a razor after using the AT2 maybe once a week just to have a smoother shave when I'm going out on the town. But again, it really isn't necessary, it's just a personal choice. I have used the AT2 both dry and wet. It took me a moment to get used to dry shaving with any of the shavers I have. A wet shave is more comfortable for me. The AT2 was better than the rotatory shavers whether dry or wet. I will say this, the very first time I used the AT2, I did get one nick, although the same happened with one of the rotatory shavers. It's just that I felt the nick with the AT2 a bit more. I've not nicked myself since that one time and I use it daily. I go back and forth with dry and wet shaving with it. I make that decision on how much time I have. I've gotten used to using it dry, but I still prefer a wet shave. Also, I did get a couple of razor bumps from the rotatory shavers. I have not gotten a razor bump from the AT2 even with it being a closer shave. There is also less irritation with the AT2. The rotatory shavers made my scalp feel slightly irritated even after using a shaving balm and moisturizer. Second, the AT2 is easy to handle. While the two rotatory shavers I have are also easy to hold, one just feels a bit bulky because of the size of the shaving service having 7 shaving heads. I like the design of the two staggard cutting blades. It allows me to position the shaver at a angle that works well all over my head. It is very easy to clean. You pop off the foil cover, rinse it and the cutting blades and you're done. The rotatory shavers are pretty much the same, however the build up of shaving cream requires a little more time to rinse out completely. Third, the battery life for AT2 is incredibly long. I've been using the AT2 daily for two whole weeks and haven't had to charge it. The power indicator hasn't even gotten down to half way. By comparison, the rotatory shavers needed charging after about two or three uses. The AT2 comes with a USB-C charger and plug adapter. One of the rotatory shavers I have has a only a standard plug charger, which means I have to ensure that I take the cord with me when I travel or I'm out of luck in charging it. With the AT2, I can use any USB-C cable I have to charge it. Finally, If you tend to go more than a 2-3 days without shaving your head, you may still need to use a rotatory shaver or trimmer first because the hair may be too long for the AT2. I shave daily, so that is not an issue for me. Aberlite doesn't try to mislead you on that either. It's mentioned on their website and product info. The AT2 has a hard shell plastic case that fits over the shaver that will make traveling with it breeze. It comes with a travel bag to hold the shaver and the USB-C cord, it also fits in the small toiletry kit bag I use for my beard trimmer and nail clipper kit. There are no gadgets with the AT2 like pop-up trimmer, nose trimmer, scalp massager, etc. I didn't need them anyway because I already have them separately. Besides, the gadgets that came with my rotatory shavers seem flimsy and don't work as well. I definitely recommend the AT2, especially for anyone looking to get a closer shave. The price is good, the quality of the product is excellent. Overall it has met my expectations. UPDATE: I'm still liking the AT2 overall. However, I am noticing that the foils may split. So, you have to pay attention to the shaver if you start feeling any tugs or pinches. The foil that came with the razor when I purchased lasted for just under 3 months before I began noticing a few pinches. I examined the foils and noticed a slit split one side. I ordered replacement blades and the first one of the pack is starting to pinch as well though there are no visible sign of spits or tears. I've been using it for about 2 months. To be fair, I do use my shaver practically every day. So, I expect the foils and blades to wear down sooner than if I shaved a 2-3 times a week. Also, I now rub Williams Lectric Shave on my head before using the razor. I didn't even know that it was still on the market... LOL!!! For those who may not remember or ever heard of it, it's a pre-shave product designed for men who use electric shavers. It's a liquid that is alcohol based. I saw it in a CVS and thought hey why not give it a shot since I'm still not a big fan of dry shaving. The Lectric Shave isn't a wet shave but it coats the hair and at least for me provides for a smoother shave. You simply rub it on and let sit for about 10-15 seconds before shaving. It's inexpensive as well. Give it try before buying some ridiculously priced product that may offer the same results. I may explore a non-alcohol based product, but for now Lectric Shave is part of my routine.

Aberlite Touch 2 Foil Shaver — Excellent Finishing Shaver for a Smooth Bald Head

As someone who keeps a closely shaved head, I've learned that not all shavers serve the same purpose. The Aberlite Touch 2 is not designed to replace your clippers or primary head shaver. Instead, it excels as a finishing tool, and when used as intended, it delivers impressive results. The first thing to understand is that this works best on very short stubble. If you've gone several days without shaving, you'll want to trim first. Once hair is down to the recommended length, the foil system provides an extremely close shave that feels noticeably smoother than many rotary shavers. The dual foil design does an excellent job of capturing and cutting short hair. It leaves a clean, nearly razor-like finish without the mess, time, or potential irritation that can come from traditional wet shaving. The compact ergonomic design is another strength. It feels natural in the hand and makes it easier to reach around the sides and back of the head than some larger foil shavers. The lightweight construction helps reduce fatigue during longer grooming sessions. Battery life is excellent. A single charge lasts a surprisingly long time, and the USB-C charging is convenient since it uses the same cable as many modern devices. The waterproof design also makes cleanup quick and easy. I experienced very little irritation, which is one of the reasons many people choose foil shavers in the first place. The hypoallergenic foils seem to do a good job minimizing razor bumps and skin discomfort. The only reason I stopped short of a perfect rating is that this is a specialized tool. Anyone expecting it to efficiently remove longer hair may be disappointed. It performs best as the final step after clipping or trimming, exactly as the manufacturer recommends. Overall, this is an excellent finishing shaver for bald head maintenance. If your goal is achieving a smooth, polished result after trimming, the Touch 2 performs very well and has earned a place in my grooming routine.

Best Shaver Ever!!! IMO

I've bought and used several rotary shavers (Pitbull Gold & Platinum, and a 7-head shaver) in the past and I've never encountered as close of a shave, mechanically, in my years of shaving my head. I've used this for several months to make sure I liked it as the first day I used it. The only issue I've seen in other reviews is the possibility of the foil breaking. I haven't had that trouble. However, I did spring for the Assurion insurance for $9.99 for 3 years. They will replace the foil, if normal usage, at no charge. The Aberlite replacement foil is over $25 for 2 of them. It's a winner for me all around.

Good looking product that is worse in every way than what it's trying to replace

I've been using a razor in the shower to shave my head for almost 20 years and I thought I'd try something different for a change. I've seen lots of "head shavers" out there and some get good reviews and some don't. I finally decided to try this Aberlite Touch 2 since it was a foil shaver and the advertising convinced me maybe it was a better option. If I'm replacing a razor with an electric product then all that matters to me is how easy it is to use and how does it shave compared to my razor. The Touch 2 failed in both respects unfortunately. If you go more than a couple of days between using it they recommend that you use trimmers to get your hair as short as possible first. I won't count that against them because I would do that with a razor as well. However, it takes longer to shave due to having to go back and forth over the same area many times to get close to smooth compared to a quick glide once or maybe twice with a razor. The top of my head is close to bald but has some hair and the Touch 2 didn't handle that well at all. It would leave hair no matter how many times I went over the thinner spots. I gave it a more than fair chance to see if my skin would adapt better etc. but I kept just asking myself why I was using this instead of a plain old razor that worked better and faster so finally retired the Touch 2 after about a month. I will say the packaging was high quality and it came with a travel guard, charger and foil cleaner so it's ready to go out of the box. The battery was charged when I received it and I was impressed with how long the battery lasted. The whole package looks high quality for sure but sadly it's more style than substance. I can buy a pack of NON-Gillette (because I'll never buy another product from them again) razors on Amazon for a great price and be better off. I'm a fan of technology but sadly for my head shaving at least, low tech is still the best option.

Great shaver except for one major issue

With no issues, i would give this shaver 5 stars, but it has one major problem: the foil cover. I used this shaver and it works great, but after about 2 or 3 uses, the foil cover over the razors started to come apart. So i bought replacements. ONE use in, and this foil cover started to come apart too. If Aberlite can improve this cover, this shaver would be perfect.

UPDATE: July 28, 2026. I wanted to do an update on this review. I don't think I have ever done an update on a review before. I am sold on this product. I have had and used this product for over 3 months and just now changed out the foil and blades. That was an easy and simple process. I am still very happy with this product. I use this product daily or every other day. Again...not getting a regular blade razor smooth shave but I am very satisfied with the shave I am getting. More so than any of the previous rotary shavers I have used in the past. - Paralegal59 This is a quick initial review of this razor. I have tried multiple rotary razors, including Remington, Skull Shaver, and Groomie. None of those gave me a very close shave, and I always felt I had to settle. I ordered the Aberlite razor, had it delivered yesterday, and tried it out this morning, 2 days after a razor blade shave. I am genuinely impressed. Certainly not razor blade smooth, but I don't feel like I am settling either. I live the feel of it in my hands. Doesn't feel cheap. I live the groove in the body... it works really well with gripping and handling the razor. The plastic storage case that houses the razor is a great idea and protects the razor for travel. I love that it uses USB-C for charging and not some propriety charging cable that you have to keep track of. I will update this after a period of time to see how it holds up...but very impressed with this razor over any other rotary razor I have used.
