We bought play sand from... Lets just say that it was a depot for the home,... and filled the bags. They stayed secure to the tent, which did not go anywhere the very first ---and only--- wild and windy (and rainy) night. That may just be due to the fact that I did a good job of staking the tent.... ...Or maybe the bags had something to do with it. Maybe. Did not matter that much, as the alleged waterproof tent was not, after all, waterproof. My brother had some lighter sandbags he uses on his tents, and they do not stay put on very windy days. Plan on returning the tent, but keeping the bags for the tent's eventual replacement. ... show more

    • Decent weight bags, Quality control could be better

Decent weights bags, price is ok. They have some nice features that give me hope for their longevity. The material is fairly thick and heavy duty. It's also lined so sand won't work its way thru the fabric. The tops have 2 zippers to close them which was nice. It will also prevent the sand inside form working it's way out. Quality control is lacking though which is why they only get 4 stars. The zippers are sewn on in different directions from one to the next (i.e. on one bag both zippers zip in the same direction and on another they zip in opposite directions). There is no rhyme or reason as they were almost all different. One of the inside zippers was broken right out of the box. The 2 sides were sewn in so the teeth did not line up so it would not zip. The shuttle came off because of this mismatch but I was able to make some adjustments to it to fix the problem. The velcro straps are also sewn on in different directions and a few of them barely have enough length to make it around the bags when full to secure them to your canopy legs. All in all, they're decent and should do the trick. I have seen worse bags. ... show more

I like the bright color and they hold a good amount of gravel so the tent is secure in wind. The bottom velcro strap is too short to fully secure. The seam split on one of my 4 bags within first few uses.

    • Good anchors for cabana

I put these bags on our hardtop cabana. We had a really strong winter wind that probably would have blown over the cabana had we not used these bags. The wind moved the hardtop 12 x 20 cabana about 18”but did not topple over. I immediately ordered four more and filled those with sand for additional weight. The ones that were a year old had started to separate the liner inside but the vinyl kept the sand inside the bags. The double zipper is a good concept but difficult to close the second zipper over the inside zipper and sand gets in the way when trying to close. ... show more

I'm using these to hold down an Everlast Heavy Bag Stand. They do work but they feel a little thin. When they are full of sand you definitely want to use 2 hands to carry them. I wouldn't trust them not to rip. I'm not sure how much weight they actually hold. I bought some 50 pound bags of play sand. I could not fit a whole bag of sand into each canopy weight. I might have fit about 75% into each one. Another issue is you want to be very careful putting sand into each bag. If any sand gets into the zipper, the zipper will not zip. I had to use a sewing needle to pick out the tiniest bit of sand in the zipper. Because of their design its hard to fill the sand all the way to the top. I ended up zipping each weight almost completely shut and sticking the end of a funnel in there, using a cup to slowly fit it to the brink. Turned into a 45 minute project. ... show more

Well made and plenty heavy! Deducting one star as seems Velcro sewn on backwards; the nice, wide bands barely return to the starting point. Or, possibly a few inches short. Each corner took about 35# of sand. Easier to fill if you use a scooper.

Happy with this purchase so far. Purchased these bags 1.5 years ago. Used this past weekend for the first time, 3 days full days at the beach. Held 10 x 10 tent steady in light winds of 6 -12 mph (only needed 2 bags filled with sand). Sand worked very well; water quickly leaked out. Durability 5 * - materials seem high quality based on limited use, so giving benefit of the doubt. Really impressed with the smoothness of the dual zipper system in sandy conditions. The velcro held strong. Sturdiness 4.5 * - must fill half way for the bags to stand up on its own and for the opening to stay wide enough to fill without holding. The bags are very sturdy once filled with sand. Value 4 * - these bags are easy to use, work well, and look good. Grocery bags filled with sand and secured to the tent function just as well in light to moderate winds, so there are much less expensive solutions - but come on, these look a lot better. ... show more

These worked out great, we had quite a bit of wind at the craft show but these bags held our canopies down like a champ. Filled them with pea gravel… on average each bag was about 33 lbs each. Had one start to rip on the handle but other than that I am very pleased. We plan to order another set so that we can meet the required 50 lb for an up coming show… although I don’t truly believe we would need more weight but we must play by the rules LOL! ... show more
