I needed something that was resistant to accidents (I have 2 small dogs who are very difficult to potty train) and something that was easy to clean. Any liquid that gets on the rug does have a period of time before it soaks in, so if I get to it fast then super easy to just wipe right up with a paper towel. Even if it does soak in, the backing keeps it from getting through to my floors and it’s still pretty easy to clean…just use a wet rag and sometimes a little carpet cleaner/spray. Really nice rug. Did order a pad for underneath. Only issue is the 1st order was coming by USPS and never arrived. Requested a replacement and came by Amazon the very next day. Amazon should never use USPS because it never comes......always lost in transit!

My dog was recently diagnosed with congestive heart failure and prescribed a diuretic. One of the unfortunate side effects of diuretics is accidents. Despite her valiant attempts, my dog sometimes did not make it outside or to the pee pee pad. My gorgeous cream wool rug became an unfortunate victim of her diagnosis, and a washable, inexpensive solution was needed. I did not have high hopes for this rug, but was surprisingly happy when it arrived and was unpackaged. Yes, it is thin, but that’s what makes it machine washable. It is very soft, and has not slipped out of place, and looks really good once down. If you need a pet/kid friendly rug, you may want to consider this. I have not tried to wash it yet, but will update my review only if the outcome is disastrous. ... show more
