The tree is very healthy and looks great. Like others have said there is no fishing rod and the little man fell off which I have to glue back on. The little white bird is there and cute. The glue looks very sloppy. This little bonsai scene has a lot of potential and when I get done with it will be adorable. I love the rock formation and the water hole. I made the water blue, LOL.     • A classic tree for a beginner
This little juniper tree provides a great starting point for trying your hand at Bonsai as a hobby. The pot and tree arrived wrapped in a plastic bag then stuffed into a box with foam peanuts. Everything was in great shape. If your fisherman is missing his fishing pole look for a crude looking toothpick as you unwrap the tree. This is the fishing pole. After rising the loose dirt out of the man's hand I was able to delicately push the pole into his grip. It knocks loose at times, but is easy to put back. It could be glued or pasted in, but that might cause problems down the road as it gets bumped. So for now I'm content to just fix it when it gets knocked out. The bird was a bit beat up (paint marring). But it gives the whole setup a nice weathered look. This keeps it from looking too factory finished. You'll need to purchase some bonsai tools for the tree. I purchased the kit found on this site that came with the pruners, bamboo brush, and broom rake. Also you'll need to get some training wire. The tree as it arrived was parked squarely on top of the fisherman. After a month of training wire, it is trained off of him and the rocks. In the end, buy this little tree and you'll be pleased with the purchase. It's a hobby that requires patience. And remember, that any scratches, dings, or bumps carry with them a story unique to you. So instead of getting upset, think of any little damage you do as a unique part of your experience with the tree. Have fun. ... show more

Wish I could give this a 5 because it is so beautiful. I am taking off 1 star because the fisher part has a minor leak to the plant causing some of the soil from the plant side to come over to the fisher dude. Plus the package was poorly wrapped soil wise because of the large amount of soil that was in the box and had to be replaced with potter soil. Also a tad bit of the tallest rock broke, but it still looks really really nice. The wife thinks it is her most beautiful bonsai piece. I also think this product should be sold in two items this being the cheaper and a larger product that can support a beta or small fish on one side. This is a very small pot so no way you could add any minor fish :( ... show more
