These mulching mower blades are well made and a perfect fit for my 42" Troy Bilt Bronco riding mower (interchangable with Cub Cadet). The edges are clean and the blade design matches up to my old blades exactly which provides for a good clean cut. They are slightly lighter than my other blades although the dimensions are the same. I'm not sure if there's just less metal in terms of the thickness but I honestly can't tell the difference and these are absolutely strong and sturdy. My old blades have taken a beating due to some unfortunate interactions with landscape timbers and a few tree stumps. Sharpening the old blades is obviously an option, but one thing I thought about was the cost to replace the blades is comparable with having the old set sharpened, and having the old blades on hand as an extra set just makes sense in a pinch should I have any issues. Given the quality and craftsmanship of these blades I expect them to last a long time, and recommend them as a replacement for your 42" Troy Bilt or Cub Cadet.

These replacement blades fit my 42" deck (Cub Cadet/Troy‑Bilt/Craftsman) with the 6‑star mount, and installation was straightforward. The blades came sharp out of the box and gave a clean, even cut on the first mow. No vibration issues and no balancing needed. They seem solid and well‑made, and the mower handled normally with them installed. So far, they’re doing exactly what I needed — a simple, effective blade replacement that restores a clean cut. Pros: Sharp right out of the package Clean, even cutting Fits 6‑star 42" decks correctly No balancing or extra work needed Cons: None so far Bottom Line: Good replacement blades that install easily and cut well.

I've used about 6 different brands of blades on my mower over the years. These blades are a little heavier and machined a little better than average. Out of the wrapper the edges of the blades weren't particularly sharp so I sharpened them up a bit with an angle grinder with a 60 grip flap disk. Some of the blades I've tried in the past were smooth, medium lift like these. I've recently been using blades that have tabs cut into the lift part of the blade. The tabs are supposed to chop the grass clippings into smaller pieces, but they cause the mower deck to vibrate and they have a loud droning sound. I just removed a pair of tab blades and installed these blades and these are so much quieter and smoother than the tab blades. They cut really well, better than any of the other low cost 'generic' blades I've used so far. I know they sharpen up well, it they hold up well without excess wear on the tips these may be my new favorites.

These 6-star hole blades were the exact fit/replacement I needed for my 42" Cub Cadet riding mower. The 942-04308A/742-04312 fitment was spot on, and they were incredibly easy to install. They do an excellent job mulching, leaving the lawn looking clean and manicured. Heavy-duty steel and sharp right out of the box. The blades have a coating I guess it’s to protect you from cutting yourself, but that wears off and the blades cut really well. I had never noticed and maybe it’s just me, but it seems like the mower deck is quieter and doesn’t vibrate as much. Maybe my other blades were damaged, because I do cut at the lower settings. These blades feel heavier, more solid than other blades which may account for stability and I’m hoping this gives them a longer life span. Highly recommend these blades as they are a great value.
