This mower is awesome it was easy to put together runs great. It’s very well built I’ve got five acres of some of the nastiest weeds and grass the mower doesn’t even bog down. I bought an IKON XD 60. It cuts well and makes your yard look like a golf course. The bad thing is the drive belt (that runs the drive motors / transmissions) shredded after two cuttings. I replaced the belt which is no simple feat and now that belt is slipping to where I had to tow it back to my garage. After analyzing the belt configuration, I determined that the angle of contact is not equal between the belt and the left drive motor versus the right. This causes the mower to be able to turn better on an uphill grade in one direction and worse in the other direction because the belt begins to slip, heat up, and eventually causes it to break down or break. I do cut the front slope of my pond longitudinally (not up and down) which is at a 3:1 slope and this inconsistency is more than evident when traversing one direction, then back along the slope. Another issue that I discovered is the idler pulley is not on the same plane as the drive motor pulleys which causes the belt to "go down a slope" as it leaves the right drive motor. This causes side wear on the belt as it exits the right drive motor, which again causes friction, heat and damage. I like the mower. it has a solid Kawasaki engine, it's smooth and comfortable but I am not impressed with the drive belt system or how to even change the belt. It could use a couple of simple things to correct the problem. It would need an additional idler pulley to increase the angle of contact on the left drive motor (so it is equal to the right) and the existing idler pulley needs to be lowered with a spacer to be in vertical alignment with the other pulleys. Since the main engine pulley and the idler, drive motors and tensioner never change vertical position, this should be no problem to correct. Another benefit to this newer configuration is the belt would need to be slightly longer to accommodate the additional pulley geometry and a longer belt means the normal wear would be extended over a longer distance increasing the lifespan of the belt. Since I like the mower, I may just fix this my own. The only other thing I wish was different would be to make the front axle assembly able to pivot in the middle like a tractor. With the solid mount like it is, the machine frame either has to flex when the front tires individually go over a hump or the rear tire on that side raises up slightly and loses traction. This will weaken the frame over time and is physically annoying because you can feel it.. My older Cub Cadet has the pivoting front assembly and is noticeably better at going over humps. I put a little "beefier" tires on it too. Do I like the machine? Yes, I do, but it could easily be better. ... show more
