Definitely heavy duty, I’ve had one of those weak box store padlock clasps on my shed for a long time, I bent it a little bit when unlocking it the other day, and realized it just wasn’t doing anything if I could accidentally damage it. The screws they provide are definitely adequate for normal circumstances, but because I had the option, I replaced them with bolts that I already had, so it would be a lot more secure / couldn’t easily be pried off when locked. I like that it provides different size holes for the lock on the lifting latch in case you need to space the hardware out a little bit differently, but this type of opening won’t allow some of the bigger/odder locks to work, I think. I have a slightly larger than regular size padlock that does fit just fine, though; I don’t have a caliper, otherwise I would provide the size of the holes (I think the seller should provide that in the listing – I couldn’t find it. This would be a great latch to use with or without a lock for a fence/shed door/etc. I may have to get another for the goat pen because of how sturdy it is, and while I normally don’t lock that, I’d probably have to use a carabiner or something else to keep it ‘locked’ without actually locking it, as they would figure out how to open this in a heartbeat, I bet. Easy to install (I’m sure even easier if you use screws instead of bolts like me), heavy-duty, and very easy to use. The only potential issue is the type of locks you may not be able to use with it (standard padlocks are fine, though).

This replaces a sliding bolt latch on a heavy gate that was always loose and in need of a lot of jiggling and messing with to get to latch properly. This one is nice and heavy duty and feels firm when it latches shut. Looks to be a quality piece that I feel should last a long time.

This 9-inch Flip Gate Latch Lock is exactly what I needed for my wooden fence. The quality is impressive right out of the box, it’s made from heavy duty steel and you can feel the weight of it in your hand. It’s not a flimsy or lightweight latch at all, and that gives me peace of mind knowing it’ll hold up against both the weather and regular use. Yes, it is on the bulkier side, but honestly that’s part of what makes it feel so secure. Once installed, it sits firmly in place and doesn’t wobble or feel loose like some thinner latches do. It includes a padlock hole which adds another layer of security, and I like having the option to lock it up when needed. Installation was straightforward and it came with all the necessary mounting screws. Once installed, the latch works smoothly and lines up perfectly. It’s built to last and has definitely made my gate feel more secure. If you’re looking for something strong and dependable, this one does its job and then some.

Stout gate latch. I used it for a chicken coop door as we have local bears and bobcats. This latch has holes for padlocks which I use for a locking carabiner as the raccoons haven’t figured out how to open it. This is manufactured from plate steel with a nice powder coat finish. It comes with strong screws. I didn’t pull out a tape measure, but would guess these to be #10s and 1 1/4” long. Much better than the usual cheap screws supplied by many companies. I do recommend drilling a pilot hole as these screws are wide enough that they might split the wood of a door. I feel I’ve added an extra measure of security and strength to the chicken coop and sleep better at night.

Right away, I love how solid this latch is and will enjoy it for years every time I use it. I gotta build a new fence and will design it around this latch, and am glad its so solid that I'll enjoy it being a big part of the fence/gate design. Its all steel with countersunk holes and clean welds. The arm moves freely and smoothly and I hope that part stands up to time and weather. Just make sure you have the enough space between the two mounting plates so that the locking holes line up. Wood screws are included for install to complete the package, and its a great latch all around.

If you're looking for a gate latch that's going to last a long time, this is it! I have two gates that come together and wanted a latch that wouldn't break if the wind catches the gate and pushes on it. This is made of thick steel. It's powder-coated so it won't rust. The latch is wide enough to allow for some adjustment if your gate has a gap of an inch or two, like mine does. It has holes to accommodate a heavy duty padlock. It looks nice and works great!

This is a great latch that was easy to set up and easy to use. It works really well securing my shed in my backyard. It looks nice and is big enough to use a good padlock with it. The material is strong and has a nice paint that I think will last for a long time.
