Whether you're looking to entertain kids in the car or play DVDs and CDs out on the back patio, this compact DVD player offers many worthwhile features and a lot of functionality for the money. My first impression upon unboxing this DVD player is the overall size is more compact than I expected. The 7.5-inch screen is not a lot bigger than the typical smartphone screen. But, it’s a perfect size for easy portability and personal viewing. Set it on the arm of your chair and watch at a distance of a couple feet or less. Or, you can connect this device to a larger TV with the supplied AV cable and use it as a home DVD player. You can also use it as a portable CD player, or to play music, view photos or play stored audiovisual files from a USB drive or an SD card. Picture quality is pretty good when viewed straight on but becomes somewhat washed out if viewed much to the side, or above or below the screen. I don't consider this a huge problem because with a screen this size, this is not going to be a device several people are going to watch at once, and the unit is small so it's easy change its position and tilt the screen for the best viewing angle. Sound quality is much better than expected. With two speakers on the top of the lower part of the unit, it gets loud enough to be heard easily even in quiet parts of a movie or when there's background noise in the area where the player is being used. I can't say this for some other portable DVD players I've used. The sound is also natural and distortion-free even at higher volume levels. Music CDs also sound quite good when played on this device. A remote control provides access to all features and functions, and buttons on the top of the base of the unit duplicate the most frequently used controls such as the volume level, play/pause, fast-forward, reverse, etc. The remote would be most useful when using this DVD player across the room when it's connected to a larger TV, as the screen size would make it unlikely you'd watch the built-in screen from far enough away to need a remote. The internal battery is said to be good for 4-6 hours of play; I haven't run it that long on a single charge to test the maximum play time, but the battery had no trouble getting me through a 2-1/2 hour movie. Two power/charging cords are included in the box with this player, allowing you to operate the unit and charge it from either a standard household outlet or a vehicle's 12-volt power point. The box this device comes in has a handle and serves as a convenient way to carry and store this DVD player and its accessories, protecting everything from loss or damage.

Somehow, as well as a mysterious tear on the box, I found many settings in the "Setup" were already using Russian language as a choice. The visible portion of the screen on this "9.5 inch" DVD player is actually 7 inches diagonally, the way ALL screens have ALWAYS been measured. The entire device is 6 inches by 7.25 inches in area when closed. The screen will turn around and lay flat against the dvd and controls but it has a quite functional remote that requires two AAA batteries. Some functions require use of the remote. The USB and the SD card slot will accept a maximum of 32 GB stick or card. I have an old 32 GB USB stick that reads and writes on everything I've ever used it on (many things, many years), yet this player does not recognize the format. Using an SD card adapter I tried a 32 GB micro SD with success to view photos in jpg format and audio as mp3 in both the SD slot or the USB slot. I was not able to view the short video mp4 I tried as it didn't like the format even though "mp4" is in the menu as an accepted type. Many different codecs are used for some video files, so that's not too surprising. I didn't expect a blu-ray to work and I wasn't disappointed. The device is prominently advertised as NOT for blu-ray. CDs and prerecorded movie dvd discs did fine. After adjusting to max brightness and contrast I got a pretty good screen display. Adjusting to "Full dynamic range" I found the audio with the movie to be very good. The instructions state it takes about seven hours to fully charge the internal battery when the dvd player is not in use, while the seller states this will give approximately five hours playback time. I found it too easy to inadvertently slide the switch to "On" without knowing when it happened I have to give it another seven hours to be sure it charged because if there is a way to know charge state I didn't see it. IF the visible display had actually been 9.25 inches as advertised I would be fairly satisfied with what the device will do. If it accepted a larger, modern stick or card I'd be thrilled. As it is I would carefully look for something better.

This is a nice compact setup when you want something compact and precise for the kids. It is very handy and portable for taking with you in the car. I like the ease of operation and the convenience of the swivel screen. A great portable DVD player.

If you just pop in a DVD, it won't take you to the menu screen. It also wants to repeat episodes if it's a series and not a movie. Of you're going to use it, use the remote. It also skips if you're walking with it. Worse than a 90s CD player. You get what you pay for though. It's not bad for the price. We intend to use it as a travel player during long road trips. There's also a slight color line in the screen. It's an ok player. I wouldn't recommend for an older child. A younger child will be able to enjoy and appreciate it.
