I recently paid $40 for FRONT ONLY brake pads on my father's F150, so I was skeptical about Amazon selling both the front at back pads for a similar price. Initially, I was concerned about the thin metal backer on the back of the pads that was free-floating and not firmly attached. After doing some research, I discovered that this "tin" backer is called a noise-dampening shim and that a free-floating design is desirable compared to pads that glue it on. DO NOT THROW THIS AWAY because it helps to reduce noise. No special tools are required to replace these pads on an F150, HOWEVER, you will need to perform a simple routine by cycling your ignition key and navigating the menus so the vehicle computer can retract the rear brake caliper. Videos of the procedure are available online. After driving my truck 2000 miles, these pads are performing well even after towing a 7000 pound trailer. ... show more
