Pints vs square footage, watches the pints

I see some comments about the bucket not holding 30 pints, it says it's a .53-gallon tank, 30 pints is the amount of moisture it can remove from the air in a day. This is not good for an area that requires a significant drop in humidity like the area I have 500 sq ft i wanted it to drop from an average of 58 to 40 if raining or high humidity outside needs even more effort. I should have gone with a 50 pint or bigger. Though I understood this I still assumed I would be ok and had to learn this the hard way. 2k Square foot machine will fail in a much smaller room if its 30 pints trying tackle moisture above 50 and if its above 60 your even worse off. Watch the pints, need to make sure you're removing enough moisture from the air a day to make the difference square footage is not of much use. ... show more

Had this running for 3 weeks non stop in 2000 sq ft basement. Will not get humidity below 55 percent and my basement on avg was about 55 to 60 before I got this. No way this does 5500 sq ft as advertised.

I got this dehumidifier because I am living at Berkeley right now and it is so humid. Like, it got to the point where there would be mold growing in the restroom and my towels would not dry properly even when hanged up well. This little thing surprised me as I thought that it really wouldn’t do much but it got my humidity down from 85% to the 60s in just a few hours which is really impressive! I like how there are two fan settings so I can leave it on when I sleep without it being annoying and I kind of enjoy the white noise as well. I also like the hose function that it has so I don’t have to worry about the water tank filling up and also the gauge to tell me how humid the air is so I can monitor how well it is working. Just make sure to keep it well ventilated and not too close to walls to ensure it works the e best! It is a great little machine and I would recommend it for anyone who has a damp room as it is not healthy with all the mold growing everywhere. ... show more
