  • Good unit for the money, but sparse manual.
Model: 9 Port Managed | 8x 2.5G+1x 10G SFP+
Unit has a nice overall appearance, and its great having a 10G SFP+ port in addition to the eight 2.5Gb ports. Manual is anemic, though ... not much in it other than how to connect to the web interface. The switch management software is functional but looks dated, and it could really benefit from a dark mode. Not much in-program help is available, either ... so you're going to have to brace for a learning curve and be prepared to look up a lot of things if you're new to networking. Still, if you are moderately up to speed on networking, this is a fairly nice managed switch for the money. ... show more

  • Reliable Switch!
Model: 6 Port | 4x 2.5G Vlan + 2x 10G SFP+
I found out that my new router would support 2.5Gigabit wired connections... I immediately purchased this switch to increase the amount of ports I could use... I found out the hard way, that my laptop, NAS and desktop only support 1gigabit. I then purchased a couple 2.5Gigabit USB adapters for my desktop and laptop (my NAS doesn't support Ethernet via USB). I do not have any optics in my network, so the SFP's did me no good.. however, the 4 port switch did hit the spot! I really enjoy the faster speeds between the 2 devices.. now to get my ISP to increase my speeds over 1 Gigbit, then I can really use the faster speeds.. (the "gateway" they have, only supports 1 Gigbit)... Please keep it in mind that your fastest speed is dependent on your slowest connection. ie. if your desktop is only 1 gigabit in speed, your 2.5Gb laptop will only go as fast as 1 gigbit between the two.. in addition, if your router maxes at 1gigbit, then the fastest you will ever get, is 1gigabit. Either way, I am very happy with my purchase of this switch, it is basic, and cheap, but provides what it advertises, 2.5Gigabit. I will agree with other reviews, it would nearly be a perfect switch if the power port was from the rear and not the front... Still great switch!! ... show more

  • Initial impressions on performance are very good. Warning on SFP+ with DAC.
Model: 6 Port | 4x 2.5G Vlan + 2x 10G SFP+
There aren't any reviews for the 6-Port (4x2.5GBE + 2x 10GBE) variant but I rolled the dice on it anyway. I use this to connect a D-Link DMS-107 and a NICGIGA 2.5GB Ethernet adapter. Between the Intel i225 on one PC and the Realtek (NICGIGA) on the other, I transferred over 3 TB at over 250MBps consistently, averaging 265MBp on Windows SMB. There is no electrical noise from the device (buzzing or interferences sounds) and no fan so I'd describe it as "silent". It might not fit the strict definition of that, i.e. it might be unsuitable for an audio/video production environment. I've tested the SFP+ ports and between two Connect x-2 over DAC and I got 858 MBps average over 8 runs of synthetic testing. I will warn you that there is a known bug which will cause the switch to reset constantly when paired with longer DAC cables. There aren't known issues with fiber. I did not experience this bug in testing as my DACs are short. Also, the 2.5GBE is 10/100/1000/2500. SFP+ (at least this implementation of it) doesn't support auto-negotiation so it's 10,000Mbps or 0 Mbps. Managed devices typically support a reduction in speed to support 1, 2.5, or 5Gbps mode. This is not managed and you cannot switch its operation mode so it's all-or-nothing. Somewhat-alarmingly this device isn't listed on NICGIGA's website. The closest device they have a listing for is a 5-port and 8-port gigabit (1Gb) switch under both "new in" and "products". The only 2.5gb device they list is a NIC. As such, this might be a discontinued or generic product sold as NICGIGA. Other than that the only small criticisms are that it's not possible to visually determine if it's in 2.5Gbps mode. My D-link switch has Orange, (100) Green, (1000) and blue (2500) Mbps indicators so you can instantly tell which mode its in. This only has orange and green, with orange indicating link and green flashing for transfer. This might seem trivial until you're troubleshooting a PC in/on another room/floor. Finally, there is a "VLAN" switch which I've not been able to determine the usage for. The documentation (literally two squares of information totaling the size of an index card) simply lists "VLAN Switch off/on". Ostensibly it's to isolate the 2.5GB connectors from each other to only provide an uplink to a server via SFP+. I don't have a setup to validate that functionality. ServeTheHome states that it simply stops the whole network and they couldn't figure out a use case for it. Oh, and for power consumption, it can pull a maximum of 12 watts from the wall. It's an estimated $1.50 to $2.40/year (depending on local utility rates) to run at full capacity. I saw 8.3 watts draw with 3 2.5GB ports at full use. I've only run it for 9 days, but in that time I haven't seen any drops or other issues. ... show more

  • Fast Plug & Play Un-managed Switch
Model: 9 Port | 8x 2.5G+ 1x 10G SFP
If you manage very heavy files, have a server, NAS or heavy workflow on your network, this switch It’s the one for you. Note: this works as an extension of your network improving the transfer speed only of devices attached to it. You need router to assign IP or manually assign them on your main PC / server. This Switch comes with a DC power supply and that’s it. It has a sturdy metal case with no fans but it doesn’t overheat when its heavily used. Has 10/100/1000/2500 mb/s and an extra 10G SFP. Works out of the box, once connected it handles all your devices with different speeds, I have a NAS, 2 PCs with 2.5g Nics and other devices with 1000 and 100 mb and my network speed is flawless. It’s really affordable, works great and has very good transfer speed management between devices. Recommended. ... show more

  • Works very well
Model: 6 Port | 4x 2.5G Vlan + 2x 10G SFP+
I got this 10 months ago. It's been 100% solid and is used for data to upstairs of the house. Connected to the LAN via 10GB fiber and 10GB connection to a NAS. Works so good that I needed to install a similar setup and bought the 8 port version. Both work great. Good buy and quality

  • Great little switch
Model: 9 Port | 8x 2.5G+ 1x 10G SFP
I have not tested the SFP+ cage, but the 2.5G copper ports are all working perfectly at 2.5G and I am getting the full 2.5G port throughput. My wifi7 access point is managing to push about 2.1Gbit/sec to me on a 6GHz 320MHz wide channel and will probably max out the 2.5G port when they get MLO working. ... show more
