When the cabinet was delivered, I happened to be in my driveway and the bottom of the box popped open as the delivery person was carrying it. Still, all the pieces inside were in perfect condition, thankfully. The bottom of the box was taped well, but I guess still not quite enough. Even though these are metal cabinets, they look really nice. The paint on them has a bit of an effect like painted wood. The paint finish had no flaws and is pretty durable and easy maintenance, though I wish they offered touch up paint that could be purchased just in case scratches happen...especially with the peacock blue because that could be tricky to match. I got the peacock blue because it would be a great accent to the same color in oriental rugs in the room I have these. I've had these rugs for many years, but never until now had just the right item to bring out that blue. The assembly instructions are pretty easy to follow, but I found you don't have to do the steps in the order of the booklet, and it was more practical to do it this way instead (I'm an engineer who regularly works with manufacturing build sequences): 1) assemble back panels A & B on their back. 2) while still on its back, attach side panels C & D. 3) while still on its back, attach cross bars E, M, and R. 4) attach lower bottom F while still on its back (it will be easier to install the screws) -- don't install the second F piece yet (the middle bottom above the drawer). 5) instead go out of order and install the leg pieces G and the screw in feet -- if this will be sitting on a hard surface, I recommend sticking round felt pads on the feet so this can easily slide. 6) put the cabinet upright and install the top H. 7) install the drawer brackets onto side panels C & D -- it will be easier to see where to place them in the square cutouts if you do this now. 8) then install the second F piece, the middle bottom above the drawer area. 9) assemble the drawer, insert the side slide brackets and install the handle -- install the drawer into the cabinet. 10) install the shelves (it will be easier to place them while the doors are off). 11) install the doors -- you can install the diagonal trim pieces before installing the doors or after. I recommend installing the handles after the doors are installed, but before putting the magnets on so you have something to pull them open in case you shut the doors (it will be tricky if they close with the magnets and there is nothing to pull them open). If the doors don't hang quite even, on whatever door may be hanging lower, install an adhesive felt strip along the bottom of the door to give it a little lift. Ta da! That's all there is to it. These are very roomy cabinets with lots of storage space. Now, I thought I didn't receive all the RR screws needed to attach the trim pieces to the doors (which are also used to attach the top). I thought that strange because I would have sworn there were more than just the 6 needed for the top. I contacted the seller who was very responsive and sent me a pack of these screws. However, I then saw, when going up the stairs a few days later, where I was now able to see the tops of the cabinets (because I'm not as tall as these cabinets), that I had left the pack on the top when I screwed on the top. Oops. They were there all along. In fact, almost all the hardware had one or two extras, which is very nice. Very happy with this cabinet and with the seller. Thank you very much.

Took almost 3 hours one person. But when it’s all together looks great!! Very sturdy!! Aligned up pretty good. The leg pieces might be tricky if you don’t have strength. You have to bend them. Also comes with gloves to put together great idea because it’s metal can scratch putting it together. I also suggest an electric drill would have only taken a hour if I thought about charging ours. There is a great video from a buyer. Explains it really well. Overall great and looks great! We are getting one for my mother in laws small NYC apartment. We got the ‘61 great height. Just enough.

I was on the last step of building the unit when I noticed that the top right door was defective. The two holes for the latch magnets were on the hinge side of the door rather than the handle side. After a long series of communications with the seller, trying to get a replacement door, they finally just sent me a whole new storage cabinet! I guess they had no way to send just the door. The cabinet seems to be well-made and nice-looking. I did find assembly to be difficult and time-consuming. There are many blind screws. I often had to use a small mirror to make sure the pieces were aligned before installing the screw by feel. I recommend obtaining a nut driver of the correct size to hold the nut in place while you insert the bolt with the other hand. A magnetic screwdriver to hold the screw or bolt is also very useful. I took one star off because of the difficult assembly. I thought about adding it back again because of getting a free second cabinet but, hey, that was to correct their mistake, right? :-)

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I wanted somethjng in a fun color to store my items and took a chance on these cabinents. They are perfect and easy to follow the instructions. Size: Item is massive in a good way. The only thing i dislike are the legs. The hollow and easy bending (for easy shipping) are literally the only down market part of this unit. Value for money: I think these are very competitvely priced for assemble it yourself furniture. Functionality: When assembling this the packaging material is your friend. Lay out the stryfoam to support the large back panels, use the black wedge corner pieces to support the sides when its time to attach them. I was able to assemble two of these without assistance using these steps. I'm looking to purchase some additional shelves for these units. I am using one as a shoe cabinet and to be frank, I need more shelves! If I can't get them separately I'll just buy another cabinent to canabalize it's shelves for that. These units don't look metal or cheap. I did have one small issue....one box had extra screws for everything. Another box was missing screws. I was 3 short between the 2 cabinets for the short sheet metal screws. I paid 35 cents at the local hardware store. No deductions on the unit because it seems like the package just ended up short.

This is definitely a must buy if you are looking for a moderately easy piece to put together for storage. Since it’s metal, using an electric screwdriver makes things go faster with less fear of cracking, like with MDF. There are definitely some awkward nooks that you need to bend your hand into to get the screws in. Has a lot of storage inside and you can decide how many shelves you want to put in. I changed out the handles and put black ones on (the original ones are were a rose goldish color that didn’t go with anything in my home). For sure this is one of the sturdier Amazon pieces out there. Definitely recommend!

We ended up buying seven of these cabinets, after initially getting just a couple to get see what they were like 'in person'. They are amazingly well-designed, beautiful, sturdy, and are VERY easy to assemble. The direction are clear, and well-written, and include step-by-step 'written' and illustrated instructions with clear graphics. The first one took me 2 hours to assemble (I'm a slow old dude, and was being VERY careful not to miss something). The second-through-seventh took about 30 minutes each.... All the parts were there, and all the hardware packets came with extra pieces. They also came with gloves (now I have seven pairs!). They each also came with a small Phillips head screw driver. (I recommend using a longer one for easier assembly; and I also recommend an electric drill/driver with an extension, for speed of assembly)... I was amazed how well these were packaged. All seven were shipped from San Bernadino California all the way to far-eastern North Carolina; there was some minor damage to a couple of the boxes, but NO damage to the cabinet parts. Who ever designed these cabinets, and designed the packaging should get an award! The packaging is amazing.... Now for the best part. I had a small issue with a couple of the cabinets doors not closing all the way, where the magnetic catches could not hold the doors closed. I contacted the company via the email address that was enclosed with the instruction booklet. I was contacted the next day, and after a short series of emails, and me sending pictures of the issue, all was completely resolved. Their customer service people are fantastic; they make it clear that they will not give up until the issue was completely solved. In the end, they sent more instructions with a method to 'adjust' the door. This level of friendly, helpful, professional customer service is very rare now-a-days! I hope they read this one day, to give me a chance to say Thank you! one more time....
