  • Excellent value electric radial extractor - Whisper quiet PMSM motor Excellent value electric radial extractor - Whisper quiet PMSM motor
Size: 4/8/12 Frames Plus
The Trinfree electric radial extractor is a significant upgrade from a manual tangential extractor. The drum is thick walled stainless steel and measures 19” in diameter. There is a booklet with well written instructions in the box. The legs need to be assembled and are shipped in two pieces that bolt together. The leg height is adjustable and attach to the drum all the way along the side to the top edge. This makes the extractor more stable. Before installing the legs, I measured the height of a 5 gallon honey bucket with a strainer on top, so that the bucket would fit under the honey gate. You will need 13mm and 14mm wrenches for assembly. There is a standard honey gate included with the extractor. The left bolt on the honey gate should be turned with the screw head facing out, before installation. Otherwise it can’t be tightened afterwards. Included in the package are spare bolts, washers and nuts, which is really nice. There are two half circle acrylic lids in a separate carton in the package. I like that the lids are not installed with hinges, since I find it easier to lift off the lids when loading frames into the extractor. The basket is rather heavy and sturdy. There are 8 slots for medium or shallow frames in radial configuration. The top bars of the frames should face the wall of the drum when extracting. The nice thing about radial extractors is that both sides are extracted at the same time without needing to flip the frames. The basket can also hold 4 deep frames loaded in a tangential configuration. This will require extracting one side at a time and flipping the frames. Before testing the extractor, I removed the ball bearing in the bottom and cleaned the bolt cavity holding the steel ball. I added food grade grease to the bearing and re-assembled it. This extractor is powered by a whisper quiet PMSM motor (Permanent Magnetic Synchronous Motor) which is small, light weight and only uses 120W of power. I really like this motor. It is very smooth and the speed is regulated by turning a knob on the panel. The extractor can be spun in forward and reverse directions with the push of a small button. There is a digital display showing the rpm. The speed is maxing out at 3000 rpm, which is not needed for honey comb. It is recommended to start slowly and increase the speed after a few minutes. I tested the extractor with 8 frames of comb and it was very smooth without any wobbling at all. I use 8 frames in 10 frame Langstroth medium honey supers, so with this radial extractor I will be able to extract one super in only a few minutes without flipping frames. The reason I use 8 frames in 10 frame supers is that the bees draw the comb out past the wooden frame, making it so much easier to uncap. Uncapping takes longer than extracting. I think this electric PMSM motor radial extractor is durable and a great value at $270.00 for a backyard beekeeper, sideliner, or for a local bee club to purchase. ... show more

  • Hands free value vs hands on!
Size: 4/8/12 Frames Plus
Very impressed! Runs quiet and very well made! No wields to worry about breaking! The unit has sealed ball bearings in the top unit. No more worry about losing ball bearings at the bottom of the extractor. I finished my spring honey with a manual extractor I’ve had for 10 years. It was time for a change. It holds 8 medium or shallow frames and 4 deeps. No more turning frames unless I extract deeps which I don’t. I will be using the new extractor the end of July to see how it does. Otherwise I would give it 5 stars. Great value! ... show more

  • Better than expected
Size: 4/8/12 Frames Plus
This was cheaper than my first honey spinner and I didn't expect much - very pleasantly surprised at the quality. Its more stable so I can spin higher speeds. The plastic covers not being attached threw me at first but it worked so much better for cleaning and not cutting my arms on sharp edges while taking frames in and out ... show more

  • Don't trust in shipping promises
Size: 4/8/12 Frames Plus
They said I would receive it in 4 days. Not it will be 2 weeks. Liars. But when I did get it , the spinner exceeded expectations. Seems well made .

  • Mediocre product with design flaws
Size: 4/8/12 Frames Plus
1. Zero wobble: not likely. All extractors wobble, and this is no exception. It's no better or worse than other brands. 2. The honey gate is a) too high, and b) extrudes into the barrel so even when tilted the honey has to be over an inch deep to flow out. This is just a really poor design. A much better design would be to have a lip molded into the barrel with thread for the gate on the outside. As it is now - I will have to remove the gate entirely to get honey out. 3. Terrible instructions. Had to go back to the Amazon link to see how it actually is put together. 4. Gate installation requires you to dissemble the entire inner structure. Just ship it installed from the factory.... 5. The motor isn't protected from water. After every use, you rinse these with hot water. The motor should be at least water resistant, if not completely waterproof. 6. The lid should be hinged ! With a magnet to hold it up when opened. Instead it just sits on top of the barrel. In short - this has serious design flaws - and is really no better than other brands. It could be so much better with some design competence. ... show more

  • Great Value for the money! Great Value for the money!
Size: 4/8/12 Frames Plus
I'd like to give 5 stars and will update as needed. This is a nice machine and Soo quiet. Its heafty and could use handles but thats minor. I don't have enough frames to spin out yet but impressed by the construction and smooth operation for the price. One disappointment (but doesn't affect operation) is the lids were poorly packed and are damaged/scratched. Maybe they will replace them? Ill update my review if they do and after a honey harvest. ... show more
