  • TV Wall Mount Matches All My Requirements
This is a review of SweetEases' TV Wall Mount 26-65in - Moves in all directions - Pulls Out/Pushes In - Max Weight - 110lbs - Standard VESA Mount Plate from 75-400x75-400mm. My following comments apply to a wall mounted TV on a wall with drywall over the 2"x4" stud framing. Note the 2"x4" studs are usually actually only 1.75"x 3.75". The actual dimension is important to note because the most secure wall mounting requires that the lag screws be screwed in exactly in the center of the side of the 1.75" 2x4 wall stud. This TV wall mount can be installed on a concrete wall and some of my comments below would apply to that type of installation. But the sake of simplicity, please only assume my comments apply to the installation on a wall with drywall over 2x4 wood studs. The most critical aspects to consider in your selection of a wall mounted TV are where your wall studs are located including the location of any electrical wiring or protective wall plates; the wall mount's ability to horizontally adjust off the wall studs; and, finally, where you ultimately want your TV to be located. Let me break these 3 elements down. First, you need to be able to accurately determine the center of the wall studs and any electrical wiring or protective (metal) wall plates. Obviously, you should definitely avoid attempting to place a lag screw into electrical wiring. In more recent buildings, protective (metal) wall plates have become a standard method of protecting electrical wiring. So, you also do not want to attempt to put a lag screw through a protective (metal) wall plate. The second item to consider is the extent to which the wall mount can be horizontally adjusted from the wall stud locations because this determines how much leeway you have in the TV's ultimate horizontal placement on the wall. With this specific SweetEase TV wall mount, I found that once the wall mount is on the wall with the lag screws put in the 16" on-center wall studs, I could only move the TV wall mount frame 1/2 inch left or right. So, the location of the 16" on-center wall studs really controlled the horizontal location of the frame on the wall with very little wiggle room (1/2") for any further horizontal adjustment. I should note that the above 1/2" maximum horizontal adjustment assumes you're installing the TV exactly in the middle of the wall mount frame. Centering the TV exactly in the middle of the wall mount frame is the most secure way to attach the TV to the wall because it equalizes the stress on each of the 4 lag screws in the wall studs. It's possible to extend the TV's horizontal adjustment off-center more than 1/2", but you risk a less secure wall attachment when doing so. There are 2 vertical bars that are attached to the back of the TV on the VESA mount plates. Once the vertical bars are secured to the back of the TV, these TV-attached vertical bars can then be hung on the horizontal bars on the metal frame that's attached to the wall. At this point, it's possible to move the TV left or right on the horizontal bars by about 3" (off-center) in either direction. BUT, note that this uncentered placement puts more stress on some lag screws and less on others. The wall mount becomes unstable to the extent that the wall mount attachment has lag screws imperfectly installed in the 2x4 wall studs AND the extent to which the TV is horizontally adjusted off-center. The worst case scenario here is when the TV is horizontally adjusted maximally in the direction of the most imperfectly installed (i.e. weakly secured) lag screws because the weakly secured lag screws are getting a heavier (unbalanced) load on them. The third item to consider is how the first 2 considerations (available wall stud locations and horizontal wiggle room) affect where you can safely install your TV. The ultimate question is "With a specific wall mount and your walls, are you left with desirable placement options?" Does a specific TV wall mount allow you to safely install it where you want it? There is no right or wrong answer here, but I suggest that you either let the wall composition and specific wall mount product determine the location of your TV OR that you carefully assess your wall placement options and your TV wall mount product options to satisfy your desired TV placement. With regards to the actual installation of the SweetEase TV wall mount: I like the packaging of the screws, washers, etc. labeled, clear plastic bags. The labels are used in the installation instruction diagrams which makes it easy to get the parts when needed. The installation instruction DIAGRAMS with annotations are the main source of installation information. There isn't a lot of text to go along with it. If you CAREFULLY study and then understand the diagrams, the installation process is fairly simple. I did the install by myself up until the point that the TV with its installed vertical brackets needed to be hung on the wall-attached frame. It may be possible to do this alone. But, I preferred to have someone help me to have a safer installation process with better odds of ending up with my TV intact on a solid wall frame. The instructions do indicate 2 people are needed. The extent to which I could push the TV in to the wall was not determined by the wall mount frame. I could only push TV towards the wall until the cables extending out the back began to touch the wall. If I got cables with 90 degree connectors, I could push the TV closer to the wall. I'm going to live with the way it is now and if I decide it's just undesirable for one reason or another, I'll get cables with 90 degree connectors. The TV wall mount is a solid piece of hardware. The frame does not obstruct any connection points on the back of my TV. The horizontal and vertical tilting range of motion is more than adequate. The vertical tilt is a little difficult to customize, but once its set right, it will be that way for a long time. I do have a concerns about it not being able to securely hold up my appx. 30 pound TV. It has nothing to do with this TV wall mount. It has everything to do with my not knowing how well I placed the lag screws in the 2x4's behind the drywall. I used a fairly expensive electronic stud finder that I thought would be more than adequate for locating the center of the 2x4 studs. The "center of the stud" locations it reported were inconsistent. I did find one stud that I was most confident in finding the center of the stud. I relied on the other wall stud being 16" on-center next to it and I did seem to get the lag screw securely screwed into it.... Time will tell. ... show more

  • Use for 36" TV in Garage
I got this to hang a 36" TV in my garage so I can watch TV while working out there. I installed it by finding the studs in my wall and attaching it there. Once installed it is very sturdy and could hold a much bigger TV. It is well made and is as described so I give it 4 stars.

  • A Phenomenal TV Mount
I am really impressed with the quality of this mount. For $35, you get a lot for your money. No reason to spend more when options like this are out there. I used this SweeEase mount to install a 55" TV above the (gas) fireplace in our living room. Unless you're dealing with concrete or brick, it's essential that you mount this to studs, so make sure the wall you intend to use this on can accommodate. Most TV mounts tell you to use studs, but in this one's case it is particularly important given that you can pull the TV out from the wall. In addition to mounting hardware that should have you covered for the vast majority of TVs and walls, this comes with a paper template that makes placement much easier than trying to hold the whole unit up against the wall when marking. Using the included level with a piece of paper isn't perfect, so I would recommended measuring from the floor/ceiling to make sure you're level. The brackets that attach to the TV have two different notches for the mount, allowing you to have a little flexibility in where the TV hangs on the wall. (This is the '4" up or down' picture in the product description). Special shout-out for the really cool (faux) leather-and-snap cable management straps this comes with. In general, I've found TV mounts in stores to be ridiculously overpriced.---especially ones like this that have multiple adjustments and can pull out from the wall significantly. This is a great mount for a great price. No complaints whatsoever. ... show more

  • Design and Build Quality
Only had to open the box to see this was exactly what I needed. This kit comes with everything you need to mount it to the wall and the TV. For the wall you have your choice of brick, concrete, or wood stud hardware. For the TV it even comes with a couple rubber shim options for curved TVs. The arm itself comes preassembled so it’s only a matter of securing the arm to the wall, mounting two vertical brackets to the backside of your TV and hanging it on the wall mounted arm. Pretty straight forward especially with the laminated mounting bracket template. The template makes this job quicker and takes the struggle out of holding a fairly heavy swing arm against the wall to mark your holes. The included level is a nice touch, but pointless considering you need to level the template not the mounting arm. The two vertical brackets mounted to the backside of the TV have two hanging positions for height which was helpful to make a few inch adjustment higher on the wall after I had already mounted the arm. Since the TV brackets simply hook onto the swing arm you get some horizontal flexibility across the length of the bracket which was also nice considering I hung a 32” older flat screen and was hoping to get a higher degree of angle than the suggested 45. All of the parts seemed well made and the swing arm was pretty heavy duty in build. The included leather strap with button snaps for cable management were unexpected and handy. I would highly recommend this product and may double down on this purchase for another room in the house. ... show more
