This is the second SMONET system I’ve purchased. The original system, purchased in 2017, was wiped out by a hail storm. The new system is phenomenal. The SMONET system is easy to install and provides a strong wireless connection to all cameras. The camera display is spectacular, particularly the night vision. The NVR software takes some getting used to but once you work with it, provides good control of the entire system. One feature not mentioned in the Amazon description is the spotlight. When a human approaches the camera at night, a series of very bright LEDs will turn on. The remote viewing app works great and gives you the ability to live view and playback on your phone. For those of you who need to mount the cameras on brick, there is a simple solution. Use a piece of pressure-treated pine wood and cut it to fit the camera mount. Using construction adhesive, mount the wood to the brick (place the adhesive on the wood and brick.) You can duct tape the wood to the brick so it can dry for 24 hours. Remove the duct tape and seal around the wood with a quality silicon sealant. You can then mount the camera to the wood (see photo). The SOMENT is a spectacular system for the money. ... show more

The system works great for home use and business use the picture is relatively clear night vision works good the setup is actually pretty easy as comes hardcoded out the box ips are non standard in the 172. Range so it is a issue if you plan to connect to camera remotely directly it's not for you the way you do it is connect remotely to the nvr system that the cameras are connected to on the computer I use VMS app there are others if you know what you are doing and setup a DNS forwarder like noip.com etc through nvr or a router /VPN downsides the picture quality could be better and hardware zoom or tracking but the program does have software zoom .     • Good cameras not user friendly software
Update: customer service (Elena) has helped me through all my concerns regarding this system and it is now operating as it should. Increasing stars from 3 to 4 due to her excellent customer service and now the system is operating appropriately. Keeping it at 4 stars though as I feel the software is not as intuitive as it should be and the instructions provided in the box was missing a lot of information though Customer Rep was able to walk me through it. For the price I would recommend this product. Currently giving it a 3 star simply for the user interface. If I get that figured out and working good and easy to use then I'll up the rating. So for the cameras themselves, they feel and look of good quality. Made of metal so no easily stripping out screws like I did on my old Annke system. The day and night vision is very clear, surprisingly clear actually. So camera wise I have no issues. As for ease of install, it's a wired system, it is what it is, depending on where you put your system and how well you want the wires hidden it can be easy, or like for me who hid everything very well it was a PIA, but that's not on the manufacturer, just me being picky. Now for the user interface. I haven't called tech support yet, hoping to figure it out on my own, but it is not straight forward (note to manufacturer, look at Annke's interface, much simpler). Where to start.....3 times now I have set the time/date in the settings, hit save and come back the next day to find it wrong. I have the cameras set to motion detection and it seems to record sometimes and sometimes not. Getting the playback can be a bit laggy and not straight forward either. Do I use "smart"? By time, by AI? Why so many options?Why does one playback option have footage and the other doesnt? There are a TON of settings that can be messed with but the instructions are crap and dont show much. I feel like I am a relatively tech savvy guy but this one is eluding me, I'm going to keep playing with it though, maybe I'll break down and contact customer support. ... show more

This is a second SMONET system that i bought. The first system from 2017 is still working at another location. I like the integration between the app and the NVR system or device. I like the custom designated alarm alert area of a camera, the 2 way audio, ability to make recordings of live or playback video, snapshots, etc. The other day my young grand kids kept dancing in front of the backyard camera and asked me to replay their dance on ourliving g room TV (mirror cast from my phone to the TV). It's fairly straightforward to do repeating of cameras thru other cameras if a camera is located too far from the NVR. Overall I am pleased with my 2021 system. Nacho was my customer service rep, went above and beyond to help me. I’m in Eastern USA time and when I’m up there customer service operating hours is closed. Nacho assisted me on his own time, just to accommodate me working hours. Cameras are good and they work fine. Overall I’m happy.
