This 553 doesn’t have quick release levers. It is mounted on a 20mm picatinny rail and clamped down by machine screws. I like that setup better as quick release lever red dots often need to be re-sighted especially after long trips to the range. The dot case is made from aluminum. The device runs on a 3V lithium battery. Controls are placed in front which is more convenient than to have them on the side. Controls are multifunction buttons that turn dot reticle on and off, change its color and adjust its brightness. It is very easy to aim as the reticle consists of a circle with a ~3 MOA dot placed in its center. Since I know that it’s got to be in the center of the circle with thick and easy to spot reem, it is not difficult to quickly locate the small dot which improves target acquisition speeds especially for longer distances to the target. 2 reticle / dot colors extend dot application by using green in sunny daylight and red on a cloudy day or when it’s getting dark. ... show more

This sight is designed to be mounted "permanently". It has red and green dots to make target acquisition easier under different light conditions - green for daylight and red for lower light situations. It has adjustments to get it zeroed, and the controls for dot color and brightness are intuitively in front the sight. ... show more
