When I first unboxed this, I thought “there’s no way this small unit is going solve my humidity problem.” But my first impression was wrong. I was replacing an old unit that had broken, during a hot and humid stretch at the tail end of summer. The humidity level jumped to 68% in my basement while I waited for this unit to arrive. I let this unit sit 24hours before plugging it in and did so in the evening, after work. Within 18 hours it dropped my basement humidity from around 70% to around 45%. And it was verified by the monitor I keep in my basement (shown in the photo, but not at the time I’m referencing in the review) I’ve had the unit for about a month now and I’ve had zero issues and the display on the u it is always within 1-2% of the reading on the pictured separate monitor—and that monitor is kept on a shelf on the other side of my basement. In summary, it’s small but mighty. It eliminated a very noticeable humidity problem in my basement quickly, it is super quiet to operate, and using it will drastically reduce your electric bill if you’re replacing a much older dehumidifier. ... show more

Second VG360 Purchase Experience: The first dehumidifier is working so well; we bought a second one VG360 dehumidifier for my daughter’s basement apartment. It has also been working great, and she loves having it. This model uses much less energy than comparable units, thus producing less heat and keeps bills down. Operation is straight forward, the tank is easy to read how full it is and easy to empty. At $200 after a $30 coupon, these are well worth it. The filter is easily accessible, and should be very easy to clean when necessary also. The VG360 circulates air at a rate of approximately 103 cubic feet per minute or 6,180 cubic feet per hour. When registering for the extended warranty, they respond promptly, which increases my confidence they will respond quickly if in an outside chance I need to use the warranty. From our experience, you will be very satisfied with with this unit no matter what size area you are trying to keep dry. First VG360 Purchase Experience: After using the dehumidifier for a week, I can say I’m fully satisfied with it, and a 3-year bonus warranty is icing on the cake. The unit appears to be constructed well and is easy to use. When working in my basement, it doesn’t take long to feel the humidity since we have no circulating air in the approximate 800 square foot workshop portion. It quickly starts to feel like I’m in the Midwest with high humidity, though living in the dry climate of Utah. Immediately upon turning the dehumidifier on, I could feel the difference in the air coming out. Right now, I’m having to empty the tank once a day (over one gallon) with how effective it is. I will most likely end up using a longer hose to run it to the utility room for the automatic drainage. If living in a more humid climate, you will want to use the automatic drain if at all possible since it is capable of extracting much more.     • Compact size and works great - reliably keeps the humidity level at the desired setting.
After this summer's high humidity I became concerned about the cardboard moving boxes I have yet to unpack and the stored lumber I bought to finish in my 1,666 s.f. basement, and I wanted to eliminate any chance for mold or mildew. I was skeptical when I first saw the dehumidifier's compact size. After waiting the recommended 24 hours I connected the drain line provided and set it to 60%. It took the humidity level from 69% to 58% within 2 days and has kept it between 55% and 63% since. It now cycles on and off automatically and it's pretty quiet. I am very pleased with its performance and recommend it to anyone with a large space that wants to maintain comfortable humidity levels at an affordable price. ... show more

    • runs efficiently and quietly
As noted by other reviewers, the unit did not drain through the provided hose connection - This was despite carefully following the operating directions in the manual for "continuous" hose draining - After trying all combinations of settings, the tank would always fill and cause the unit to shut-off automatically. However, after ELEVATING the entire dehumidifier by about 2 feet off the floor (above the sump drain itself) the unit now drains effectively (and without the need to use the "continuous" setting). And when the ambient humidity reaches my selected setting, the unit automatically shuts off. I presume the drain requires more gravitational force than what is provided when the unit is placed at floor level. While the need to raise the unit to permit automatic draining is not an issue for my basement use, it might be problematic for other users depending upon distance from the sump, and/or space / unique location limitations. For this reason, I gave the unit 4 stars. ... show more
