  • OLED, nothing more needs to be said but can:
Size: 65 inch Style: TV Only
OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) is the future due to the energy cost and high-efficiency display, the only issue is longevity which is around 15 years I am guessing but it only cost me a little over a thousand, so I got a deal (Black Friday). But the 4K 3,840 x 2,160 pixelation still gives that popular 16:9 aspect ratio so images shouldn’t look starched or strange making National Geographic more amazing to watch. Pro tip: if you are looking for a TV look at the refresh rate, the bigger the better. It’s how many times the display is able to get a new image per second. This tv goes at 120Hz which is good. I can see this being used as a gaming tv but for me, it’s too big for that, for gaming 48” is perfect. The AI is nice but still getting used to it. Has all the normal bells a whistles: USB which I streamed a 4k video from a 2Tb 3.0 USB was clean, the RJ-45 ethernet port that is connected to the home network, and a few HDMI ports that kids try to use for gaming when I am not looking. The voice control remote is a nice touch but rarely used, still researching this AI stuff. But a great tv for the price would buy again. ... show more

  • Best PC 'monitor' so far
Size: 48 inch Style: TV Only
I bought the 48" version in February of 2022. And after roughly 2,000 hours of use, I'm glad I did. It sits on a desk as a PC monitor, and the screen size is spot on. (The desk itself is 31" deep, so the OLED is a mere inches away from arms length.) I also use an LG OLED C9 as a television in the living room, so I knew what to expect as far as perfect black levels, color accuracy pop, great contrast, and subpar performance in bright surroundings. The built-in speakers aren't much to write home about, but at my sitting distance from the C1, it comes across with depth and clarity. I was impressed. The metal stand deflects the output from the downward, Atmos drivers - and it actually works. (I can't say the same thing about the C9 at a viewing distance of six feet, but that's the main reason I picked up a soundbar for it.) Games and videos sound marvelous. Unfortunately, music comes across tinny and muddled. The setting to edit input viewing mode, found in the Home Dashboard menu, allows you to switch between PC, Blu-Ray, streaming box, DVD, cable, etc. - and the picture and motion settings will adjust according to the source material. And it works very well. Throw in WiFi and four HDMI 2.1 ports, and I'm a content consumer. I have only a couple of quibbles with the LG OLED48C1. One. While the screen never dims while viewing/streaming content or playing video games, it does so when I'm using the TV as a PC monitor. This burn prevention setting kicks in whenever I'm writing for an extended time, whether it be a long email or this review (so far it hasn't, so maybe I should keep this short and sweet). You can get back to normal luminance, however, after a couple of taps on the Windows button of your keyboard. It's a peeve, but I get why it's there. (Windows users: remember to hide desktop icons and the taskbar if you want to prevent burn-in.) Two. (wait.... the screen just dimmed..... tapping.) If you use this with a version of Windows released before Windows 11, the default location of the Start Menu is a bit of a stretch to use. With this much screen real estate, it's uncomfortable. It's a tad like looking for the side view mirror in a car. (Luckily, Windows 11 has moved the menu to the center of the screen. Mac fans.. please, just don't.) One star off for those reasons. Still, the LG OLED48C1 is honestly the best and most impactful PC display I've ever used, and I doubt I'll ever go back to a traditional monitor again. ... show more

  • Incredible TV. There is no other TV like it (except another OLED)
Size: 65 inch Style: TV Only
This is an amazing TV. Purchased during the Thanksgiving flash sale to replace a 65" TCL R6 which was previously serving as the bedroom TV. I've been eyeing the OLEDs in stores for a couple years, but from a value/cost perspective, the TCL was the winner. Until this deal. The R6 was great. This OLED is significantly better. Only bad thing I have to say is about the delivery. Purchased the deluxe delivery, unpack and setup through Amazon, and the (third party company called XPO) delivery guys refused to do anything other than drop off the sealed TV box and leave. They weren't very nice about it, even when I showed them my phone. Called Amazon to complain, and Amazon made it right, but the TV was fun to set up (fragile, awkward and heavy). Fortunately, we didn't break it! Once we got it set up though, it's Amazing. Best picture quality of any TV I have ever owned. Checked the model/serial numbers, and this TV has the evo panel that LG is putting in the C2 (although this is a C1). This is a nice free upgrade, as the evo panel is supposed to be more resistant to burn-in. Overall, I'm very happy with this TV, and with the way Amazon took care of the delivery problem when I made them aware of it. 0-stars for the third-party delivery service XPO, but 5-stars for the TV itself, and for Amazon CS. ... show more
