Having replaced an older unit with this one, this is working just fine to keep the 12x16ft living room nice and cool and as long as the doors and windows remain closed, it keeps at least one side of the house far cooler and dryer than without it. Not entirely sure about the advertisement though. Can't find the "Timer" feature as there's no remote nor a knob to set such a thing and the 3 fan speeds are either high or low, with or without cooling. -5000 BTU's works well for single rooms and small sheds/apartments that have good insulation. It's not going to keep an entire house cold but will help keep heat and humidity down. -Very simple, no-frills design. Something I'm always for is a design that just works. No remote, no digital display with buttons that can wear out. Set it and as long as it has power, it'll work. -Small profile that is easy to setup in a window and doesn't stick out much and is pretty quiet during operation. -Easy to install. Doesn't weight much and will fit most windows. -Does have a side-inserting screen, which can be a pain to remove if stuck in a narrow window. Suggest offsetting it a bit for more clearance; though it will flex well enough to get it out of there. -Advertisement is a bit off. Again, looking it over, I couldn't find where a timer or the 3 fan speed options are located... unless you count "off" as one of them.

This is a great little air conditioner. It's not going to work all that well to keep large areas cool, but works great in my bedroom. The install was about as expected, since I have a side opening window, not an up and down one. I did also use an AC support to keep it steady, since there is not a lot of support from the window itself (again, side opening issue). That said, it was not hard at all. Just measured the opening I needed to fill and got a cut to size piece of MDF from the hardware store across the street. It works well, cooled my bedroom down in about 30 minutes. It's also less noisy than the AC this is replacing. My only wish is that it had a remote control like the old one. It does have a timer, but I haven't used it since I plan to just keep it on 24/7. It has an evaporation mechanism to keep it from filling up with water, but that's not a huge deal with a window unit, as it would just drain out of the back into the yard. All in all quite happy with this little guy.
