🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

These sound-absorbing foam panels are well-received by users for their effectiveness, especially in home studios and similar settings. While they initially have a chemical smell, it is mentioned that the smell fades away after proper treatment. It's noteworthy that these are not designed for professional soundproofing but acoustic dampening in smaller rooms. The panels excel in preventing echos and reducing noise, while being praised as cost-effective in comparison to similar products in the market.

Pros

  • 👍 Effective in reducing echo and noise.
  • 👍 Cost-effective compared to similar products.
  • 👍 Useful in small studios or rooms.
  • 👍 Long-lasting; reviewers mentioned they have had them for nearly 15 years with no problem.

Cons

  • 👎 Initial chemical smell, though temporary and treatable.
  • 👎 Not suitable for professional soundproofing needs.
  • 👎 Small in size, might not cover large areas efficiently.
  • 👎 Absorbs and retains odor, not suitable if the room has regular smokers or any continuous scent.

Should I Buy It?

If you are looking for a budget-friendly and effective solution for managing acoustics in small to medium spaces, these foam panels are worth considering. They've made a noticeable difference in the rooms they've been used in and have been appreciated for their longevity. Just bear in mind, they are not designed for professional grade soundproofing.

  • Very nice
Color: Black&Blue
The media could not be loaded. I got the 50 pack black and blue, and 50 pack black. These filled out nice. They are not meant for noice canceling, rather a slight reduction in noise. My main reason for buying these is to make my space something I like, and make it a little more cozy. I thought it came with something to adhere it to the wall but it did not, so i got the 3M super 77 and they hold up pretty well so far. It's a nice product for the money. Don't let them sit in the sealed bags for too long or you might have different results. ... show more

  • I've installed these in 6 studios
Color: 50Pack Black&Red
They do have a chemical smell when you open the package. Sometimes it can be quite strong. When it is very strong I use the manufacturer suggested prep and let them soak in hot water for about an hour or little more. Then lay them out on a flat surface individually for the overnight. When I return they are definitely poofed and all smell is gone. I see reviews of people who use double sided tape and Velcro to attach to the wall or ceiling. You have to remember that sounds cause things to vibrate. The louder the sound the stronger the vibrations. most double sided tape warns against using in areas with loud noise. Velcro holds a little longer but those glued surfaces don't stick well to porous surfaces. I have installed every set with my staples gun like you would use for construction and my first studios foam has been installed very solid for nearly 15 years with no problem. Remember, these are foam and will absorb every bad odor they are subjected to. If you have people smoking in your studio that will stay forever. I have a guy in studio 3 that burns continuous incense and even when it's not burning the room smells like it is. These 1 inch squares aren't designed for A1 level studios. These are for your home studio or a kids playroom. They can be used as a secondary form of sound deadening products when you are using 2 or 3 forms of deadening products in a room or studio. They work great on ceilings right up against the wall where sound waves reflect off the wall at an angle and caught by the foam shapes. For lower on walls and in the middle of the ceiling its better to use the 22 inch squares that have pyramid shapes covering the squares or larger sections of egg crate foam. Using these as intended, I have never been disappointed in what they do. This seller has them at an excellent price. Buy a 50 pack from a music studio supply store and pay 3 to 4 times this price for the identical product. I just ordered 3 more sets for a studio I'm doing in Cincinnati Ohio in a few weeks. Don't go in expecting these to be your primary source for deadening and use the proper mounting hardware and you won't be disappointed. ... show more

  • The name is misleading
Color: 50Pack Black
Soundproof is a word which insinuates this product will create an impervious surface which sound cannot pass through. These panels dampen sounds. If you need something closer to actual soundproofing, you'll need foam that's at least 2 inches thich. This stuff works well enough for the application it was meant for so I gave it a 4. Almost gave it a 3 ... show more

  • How an overall 5 with a 3 for cancellation? read on!
Color: 50Pack Black
These were purchased to surround the movie screen area and are not the primary source for absorption. I built acoustic boards and ceiling to floor bass traps as my primary acoustic and absorption control. For the purpose of which I bought them, they work wonderfully. They absorb the light around the screen excellently, and since I have bi-polar speakers, the back side of the towers needed only a touch of sound treatment around the screen wall. I did not purchase these for any kind of cancellation, so I cannot rate them fairly for that purpose. Giving them more would be deceptive to those needing it to that purpose, and rating them less in that category would be unfair to the product. I would NOT use these as primary sound treatment for a home theater or music studio, but I would recommend it for someone doing podcasts and that sort of thing. They are not High End by any means, but for those on a budget, they aren't a bad place to start. These are not self-adhesive, I used staples to hang them, and they are easy to hang. ... show more
