This is a very nice knife set. I was a little apprehensive about the matte finish being clingy, but it looks nice and seems to have no effect on use or cleaning. The style and weight is very much an east meets west which makes a nice compromise. I'm coming to this set from a Mercer Culinary set. Pros: Sharp and very even factory edge. The knives are beautiful. The balance is just right and the handles are very comfortable for both my wife and I. Cons: The heel on the utility knife (and the paring knife) is very sharp and east to slip a finger on to. I nicked myself once and may have to change the grind a bit here. The Chef and santoku knives are the tiniest bit more curved than I prefer and I may start adjusting that on each sharpen.

This is a very impressive 5 piece knife set. The set includes 1 Chef knife, 1 Santoku knife, 1 Fillet knife, 1 Utility knife and 1 Paring knife. It comes in a sturdy box with a separate slot for each knife. This box has a magnetic closure. Then the knives have a plastic protective tip and are in individual plastic sleeves. The handles are made of Pakkawood and are beautiful. I can not confirm that they have a full tang. They would look classy in a wood block but the box would also be great for storage. For longevity, these knives should be hand washed and not put in a dishwasher. It is a quality set and would make a great gift. (It already comes in a beautiful box.) *According to the box, the knives are made in China.

You'll be pleased with these knives whether you're getting them for yourself or as a gift. First, they come in a beautiful box and when you open the box, each knife is firmly placed in its own slot so there won't be any damage to the knives during shipping. The handles are just beautiful and fit in my hand quite nicely. Needless to say,, they are sharp and ready to use right out of the box. Each knife also comes in its own sheath (plastic and disposable) with protesters at the the point and blunt end of the blade, so again there won't be any damage during shipping. The handles are a uniform color, so they'll look beautiful on a knife rack or a magnetic bar. There's a good selection of knives so these make an excellent gift.

Well-built, very sharp, and look nice what more can I say we love these. Priced a little on the high side but I don't have a lot of experience with quality knifes. I do wish they would have come with a storage block but that don't take away from the quality of the knifes.

I was blown away by how sharp these knives are. They have a great weight to them and the handles have a great shape that fits nicely in hand. They are so comfortable to hold. The knives are so sharp, I can't believe how well they cut. This is a super high-quality knife set. They look beautiful too. We will treasure these knives and enjoy cooking so much more with this quality product. I highly recommend the Hoshanho brand for a beautiful, well balanced and sharp knife.
