This HOSHANHO 5-piece knife set has completely elevated my kitchen game. Every knife is razor-sharp out of the box, especially the chef’s and Santoku knives — they glide through everything from meat to veggies with ease. Don’t let the marketing fool you, these knives are 100% Chinese. 10Cr15CoMoV is quality Chinese knife steel, and similar to Japanese VG-10 steel, but not Japanese. They look nice, hopefully made with 10Cr15CoMoV steel, are an excellent value if they truly are made with that steel. But any reference to Japan is just misleading marketing.

Very solid, sharp, and been using them for couple months now and they are absolutely amazing the only thing missing is holder. And i like them because i don’t and never used the steak knifes that comes with every set. So those are perfect for me.

At under a hundred bucks, this set of 5 kitchen knives is well worth it. At the same time I purchased a quality electric knife sharpener for these and other miscellaneous cutlery. I didn’t need a storage block since that would only add to counter clutter. These 5 knives will be stored in a drawer, in the quite nice box they came in (a foam slot for each knife). I was not looking for the best of the best, folds of Damascus steel, or to impress anyone…simply easy to handle, quality sharp knives that make prep work easier; that these also look good is a bonus. So the Hoshanho firm is based in Hong Kong and all their knives (including the Supreme series) are made in China. Some other reviewers seem to be shocked(!) at this since marketing suggests Japan. Makes no difference as I chop and fillet.
