These knife protectors are the bomb-diggity! They are not a sheath enclosed on the sides and one end, but more of a hard plastic knife "taco." The plastic is rugged and lined with soft material to protect your knives. It's easy to slide the knives in from the open side, but the covers grip firmly so they aren't dislodged in a drawer. They work for what it’s worth, but as a professional cook with beautiful knives that I maintain very well, I am very annoyed that these have put fairly deep scratches into my otherwise perfectly maintained knives. Low quality. If you have expensive knives you want in as close to mint condition as possible, I would recommend leather.
