  • Very nice set of frame keepers with a bottom stand off.
Color: upgraded
I'm just starting out keeping bees this year. I have four hives right now with bees ordered and due in April. With all these frames to contend with, I needed a set of frame keepers. I like this set. The metal is thick, durable and not easy to bend. It seems to be built well and should last a good long time. I like the offset at the bottom. You don't see it in many frame keepers but I think it will help keep the frames from sticking to the outside of the hive. Time will tell, but I like the idea of having it stand off a bit from the box. There is a right hand side and a left hand side. They only worked one way and if I had them reversed, the frames didn't fit. I had no problem with them hanging from the rim of the hive. You just have to get the right on the right and so forth. The only thing I didn't care for was how they will spread apart enough to allow a frame to fall between them. The further away the frame is, the further away the frame keepers want to spread. I put six empty frames on them just to see how many I could load on them. I wouldn't recommend exceeding four frames which is what the Mfg. recommends. I'll probably resolve the spreading with an additional piece of wood or metal on the outside edge of the keepers that will keep them from accidentally spreading. That would make them perfect. Other than that, I have no complaints. They seem be be built well. ... show more

  • Solid quality frame holders
Color: upgraded
These are not a single unit and may be more or less wobbly with full frames on them - but testing on an empty hive I have these felt just fine. Lots of length I think I can at least 4 comfortably on these hooks, and there are two sets so you could throw the other on opposite side of box and pretty much clear the box. I have never used hangers before so I will give them a go this season for doing hive inspection. Price is around $18 now so for four hooks it seems like a reasonable price. ... show more

  • New to beekeeping, hope these help
Color: upgraded
I am beginning a new hobby of beekeeping this year, and should be getting my first nucleus of bees in May. I have a traditional 10 frame Langstroth hive set up and these frame holders fit the hive perfectly. Hopefully it will work just as well once the frames have bees and honey on them this summer. I will update this comment if anything of note comes up. ... show more

  • Terrible!!
Color: original
Awful they move, separate and drop frames. Ge the one piece frame holders.

  • Rivets
Color: upgraded
These are not real heavy duty. They have two small rivets holding them together. I question how much weight they can hold or how long they’ll last when put to use. At the time of review they were $18.99 with 10% off. For the price, I think they will do. They fit decently on my hive set up.

  • Wobbly and unstable frame holders
Color: upgraded
I have thought about getting frame holders for hanging frames on when inspecting my beehives. These frame holders are two individual hooks, rather than one piece. This setup makes them unstable and wobbly. I tried them out on an empty hive before trying with a full frame of bees. It is tricky to get the hooks lined up and when the frame is hanging on the hooks, it only takes a small bump for one or both of the hooks to turn to the side. If the hive wall was thicker, they would be more stable. Most wooden beehive supers are 3/4" thick, but there are also 7/8" thick wood on the market. All mine are 3/4" thick. The frame holders have sharp edges that can cut your hands. It's not a big deal if you wear gloves, but I usually don't. The price ($24.99) for 2 pair is a bit steep for what you get. I will probably modify these holders by welding them together with a flat piece of metal so that a frame fits between them. That way they would be more rigid and remain in place, and wouldn't be a risk for dropping a frame full of bees. ... show more

  • Sturdy and useful
Color: upgraded
These are working great! I know they aren’t a necessity but they are pretty handy to have out at the hives when checking frames. I leave mine out so I don’t have to keep moving them around. They’ve held up well to the weather so far and are useful to hang other things on while I’m hive checking.

  • Well made, easy to use
Color: upgraded
PROS: quality construction and materials; sturdy; dimensions as described; function as described; easy to use; these holders rest the frames slightly apart from the hive for inspection or temporary holding while working on the hive CONS: because the holders are two separate pieces they can and do tend to spread apart from one another toward the ends, it's important to ensure frames are firmly seated on both holders when placing them ... show more
