    • If you're use to auto-focus=Don't Buy ! It's advertised as "Auto-Focus"...NOT !
HI, I'VE SPENT hours trying to get used to this mini-cam w/NO auto-focus, when it promoted as HAVING AUTO-FOCUS. When using the telephoto (moviing from 1X to 18X) the change is not smooth at all. This has been a total distraction. The still/pic quality is GREAT. Then again I can get close to that w/ my I-phone. I love that it uses my 250GB SD card instead of my old cassetts. The 'far-too-many' button pushes to get into the different modes can be frustrating. The date has to be reset many times. I followed the directions to the 'T' i.e.=10/31/2023. Then it comes out something different i.e. 31/10 (sometimes 11)/2023. HIGH FRUSTRATION. Going into the menu just to take pics-I had to go thru many choices. All I wanted ws to catch that "kodak-moment." By the time I found the right button, the baby stopped smiling; the puppy ran to the other side of the room. You get what I'm saying hopefully. I HATE losing those precious momnets. This camcorder is LIGHT yet seems sturdy. I've treated it with kid gloves, as i do all my equipment. The included external MIC is VERY RESPONSIVE...I just prefer to have auto focus when it is advertised as such. I belive I'm going to send it back. being disappointed happens and that's exactly what's happened with this camera. The picture quality is not nearly as good as they say. the wireless microphone does not do so well, has a short distance, and the green light is so annoying when looking at the videos. why in the world wold a designer think it's a good idea to have the "on" light on the front of the microphone? seeing a green dot is not the look i'm going for. guess it's ok for non youtube use, but if you think this will work well for any sort of social media recording you'd be mistaken. keep looking. ... show more

I am having a favorable experience with this so far. If you are expecting a GoPro for a fourth of the cost, you will obviously be disappointed. If just want something simple to capture some special moments with about as good a resolution as your cell phone but won’t eat up all your phone memory, this is a good option. It has all the accessories for getting started out of the box. It’s a decent option for podcasts or interviews. Make sure you have really good lighting. It’s actually a bit more solid than I expected. All the buttons were nicely responsive however they feel like 1990s tech compared to the more stealthy buttons of today. All the parts moved, attached, installed and operated as I expected. I really haven’t pushed this to the limits of its specs so I can’t attest to performance once you get to that threshold. I’ve yet to find any video device that takes good stills that isn’t a DLSR camera that happens to do video as well, and then you’re talking about the $2000+ club. Digital zoom will never be the equal of optical zoom. It’s little more than pulling up an image on your computer and enlarging it after the fact and getting all the blur and pixelation that comes with doing that. Battery life was good, not great, and using the more power hungry settings will only amplify that. However, recharging is quick and easy. If you want something to beat on and take on the road to capture that impromptu moment and won’t make you cry if you damage or lose it, this is the camera for you. The unbranded video camera market is pretty crowded and favors buyers so shop around and look for the best price for comparable specs. This actually turned out to be a much better camera than I expected. My son wanted to start doing youtube videos and I didn't want to spend $500-1000 on a fancy camera, so I picked this up in hopes it would be good enough to get him started. For the price, it's really quite good, and a step up from a webcam for sure, and able to not just be tied to making videos in his room but can get outside for a change. Worth the money just to get him outside and off the computer for a bit. It's a good deal, but don't expect a $500 camera for this price. ... show more
