    • Great Bible for Meditation and Reflection
I LOVE this Bible. I love the size of the print - I love the way the Word is laid out on the pages - I love the beautiful design on the edge of the pages when the Book is closed - I love the space on the outside margins for taking notes and for coloring. I would offer a couple of notes to think about, especially for those who didn't see it in a bookstore prior to purchasing it. Be aware that this is a large and heavy volume. It isn't necessarily easy to carry around, unless you purchase a good case that has a handle to make it easier to hold this much weight for any length of time. FYI - cases in this size are not easy to come by. Also be aware that the pages are thin, so I'm not sure I would recommend using colored pens or markers on the pages at all. I believe they would have had to use as thin a page as possible to try to manage the weight of the Book, but that's pure speculation on my part. But I didn't buy this for using outside the home - I bought it for when I want to dive into the Word and meditate on it a while in a nice, quiet room. This has added a dimension to my special devotional time that I really enjoy a great deal. I'm new to using colored pencils so I got a set that was affordable and house them in the BTSKY® Portable Canvas Zippered Colored Pencil Case-Super Large Capacity 72 Slot Pencil Bag Pouch for Watercolor Pencils (Blue) , which is nearly the same size as the Bible itself. They're also close enough in color that I'm well pleased to keep them sitting out on the end table near my devotional chair. I really love this Bible. If you need a more easily-readable font and would enjoy some meditation time and coloring while reflecting on His word, I believe you will love this Bible, too. ... show more

One of the best purchases I've made in a long time. This Bible changes the way I interact with the Word and inspires me to read daily. I love the quotes that are written in the margins. I color them in a different color every time I go back and read the same passage, so over time I'll be able to see what speaks to me in different seasons of my life. I also really like that the margins are large enough to make multiple comments at different times - I don't have to worry that what I write will have to be erased later because I won't have enough room. There's plenty of space for me to interact with the Text throughout the years. I choose the hardcover version because I knew this is something I'd want to hold onto for years to come and I thought the hardcover version would keep better than the soft. Additionally, I choose the large print because I often read at night and in dim light, small text can be difficult for me to see. I love that they offer the NLT. After a lot of research, and reading multiple versions, I realized that NLT is the most readable and relatable to myself and today's culture, while staying true to the original Greek and Hebrew text. I read multiple passages in different versions and overwhelmingly, NLT stands out to me as the version I can connect best with. Finally, the beauty of this Bible should definitely be mentioned. The detail in the color - a calming teal-blue with a shimmering title and wonderful floral design on the pages give a hint of it's lovely interior. The pictures inside are amazing! They each have their own personality and makes memorizing Scripture easy when you get to add your own personal touch to such superb artwork! I'm not the best artist so this is perfect for me to enjoy creating appealing art while not having to be overly critical.     • For me, simply BEAUTIFUL
Rec'd this Bible on Sat. as promised. Very Beautiful. I read prior comments regarding coloring, types of mediums to use etc. and decided to buy crayons! no laughing. Although I LOVE the vibrant colors as shown in some of the posted photos, I was concerned about colors bleeding through and did not want the text obscured by them. I thumbed through the Bible and noticed that the INSPIRE illustrations can be seen on the back side of the pages, but I did not find it a big problem. I, like many reviewers, take numerous notes, loading pages up with written notes and stickeys. With this Bible, I will be more selective on what to write, and then use a notebook or journal for additional comments. The pages in INSPIRE are not as thin as other Bibles I have. The first several pages past the hardback cover [and the back cover] are very sturdy and probably could take the gel inks and other vibrant mediums. Beyond that, I can see where inks would probably bleed through. I used Sharpies on the front and back hard covers and there was obviously no problems. FONTS: well... ok. ILLUSTRATIONS: good. It's hard to discern some of them, the squiggleys around the flowers have no definition, and TO ME looked rather hodge podgey but I colored them anyway and was very pleased with the outcome. Now there are flowers that have a noticable outline and you can see that it is a flower, but other areas are not too clear. Leaves, birds and butterfiles are really good. Then there are pages that have abstract type illustrations and I like them very much. CONTENT: you will need a commentary supplement as this Bible does not expound on the scripture. Good binding. I like that the edges are colorful. I was going to use book indexes but did not want to destroy the look of the edges. There are index tabs sold elsewhere that coordinate with this Bible, and they are beautiful. BUT, once you place those things the Bible begins to look kindof busy. So opted not to use. Topic tabs at the top of the Bible would not be too bad, but I would use sparingly so as not to junk up such a beautiful book. The large PRINT is good. I would recommend this Bible for those who doodle and like to ponder over beautiful words and scripture. I like the extra space to write. Be careful not to color more than read! LOL ... show more
