  • Just plug in and it does the rest
Love it!!!! It's a do it all automatic. Just hatched my first batch and did nothing but set it up and plugged it in. It keep temp and humidity correct the whole time. Told me what days we were on and more.

  • Does not hold humidity
Terrible, Terrible incubator, do not buy.. out of 24 eggs, 2 made it to hatch day, but ended up getting shrink wrapped and had to help them. Never one time did this incubator keep the humidity where set, plenty of water was available and even added to the tank, the back up tank. Only way to keep it remotely close was to keep hitting the test button, and put a blanket over but that only worked for about an hour, then right back down.. also the lid diloesnt have adequate groves to stay in to prevent it from moving around. im sorry I wasted my money ... show more

  • Easy & low maintenance option
First batch of chicks is still cooking- ill update with hatch ratios. I love this incubator. Easy to setup. I love that both temp & humidity are "thermostat controlled". Set it & forget it!

  • DO NOT BUY !!!
This incubator is really annoying!!! There are a couple things I like about this incubator and many things I do not. The Good: The incubator's thermostat seems to work well and keep the incubator at a constant temperature. That is obviously a very important trait while incubating eggs. Also, the incubator has a humidity control function. This function works well if you want to use it and add water to the incubator. If you prefer to hatch your eggs using the "dry hatch" method, then you do not need this. The Bad: More bad than good here, unfortunately. The incubator has an alarm. The alarm is tied to the temperature and humidity control settings. Unfortunately, you cannot turn this alarm off. So, if you want to do a dry hatch, the alarm is going to be on all the time which is really annoying. It sounds like a slightly quieter smoke alarm. You cannot turn the humidity control off in this incubator which leads to the motor for the humidity control to be on and running all the time. This is a very disappointing feature, not being able to turn off or silence this alarm. You can cancel the alarm but, that only lasts for about ten minutes until it starts up again. The over all design of the incubator is poor as well. The lid is what contains the side walls of the incubator. So, when you lift the lid, now the chicks (which are usually running around with a lot of vigor) have the ability to run right off of the incubator base, off the table you have it on, and right onto the floor below. This can easily result in the chicks dying from their fall or possibly a curious cat or dog getting to them and chomping on them. Other incubator manufacturers do not incorporate the sides with the lid. There should be sides incorporated into the base of the incubator, not the lid. If you are American, this incubator will really annoy you. The temperature is in CELCIOUS only. The instructions and pictures show the temperature display as being in Fahrenheit. There is no ability (that I have found) to change the temperature display from Celsius to Fahrenheit. Overall, I would not buy this incubator again and really wish I hadn't. There was no common sense used in the design of this unit. It's all in Celsius, you cannot turn the alarm off, and when you open it to collect your chicks they can all run out and land on the floor. If you are reading this and considering buying this unit to hatch some birds in, DONT BUY IT. This is some cheap knock off with half thought out features which were not fully incorporated into the unit. Lets face it, who wants an alarm that cannot be turned off? Not me. ... show more

  • Easy to use and works great
Our eggs are hatching great!

  • Hydration is a bit to be figured out
The egg turner feature is really hard to see if it is turning the eggs or just moving them. The number of eggs it holds is a little mis leading. It says 56 but I was only able to get 40 in the turner part that is chicken eggs it may hold more smaller eggs not sure have not tested it. Also the hydration system.does not seem to work with the bottle and the tube supplied. Now it could be that I did not don't right. All in all i think it is a good product just needs to be tweaked a little to be more user friendly. ... show more

  • High quality unit
The last time I incubated eggs was back in the 90's when I lived on a small farmette in Wisconsin where I kept a flock of chickens in the barnyard for eggs. But, I never incubated any of them. I trained Border Collies for sheep herding trials and had sheep for training. And, I also had a flock of duck which are also used in some herding trials, so they were employed in that capacity and mostly just waddled around the farm looking pretty! The breed of ducks I had were not broody, and they would just dropped their eggs anywhere they chose, including the driveway. When I got home from work every day, I had to scout for eggs so that I wouldn't run them over. I decided to incubate the duck eggs and went to the local farm store to get an incubator. I bought the one I could afford. It was made of Styrofoam! It had a piece of hardware cloth in the bottom and a heating element below that. That's about it. I had to do everything else regarding turning the eggs regularly, providing good humidity etc... It was a lot of work, but the ducklings hatched! But, I never did it again. It was a one-and-done situation due to the time required. This SMLERAY 48 egg incubator is a Lamborghini compared the styrofoam Chevy Chevette I had for those duck eggs back in the 90's. I now have chickens, again. I plan to incubate eggs and I'm happy and excited about this product. In the preliminary testing of this unit, it appears to function very well. It turns the eggs automatically and it also controls the temp and humidity as described. The electronic readout panel is decades better than my model from 1996! ... show more
