Just what I needed. Quality seems good. Note: wire is not copper (presumably aluminum). Seems like 18-gauge. Measured with calipers as approx 0.96mm on both red and black. AWG spec would say 1.024mm for 18 gauge, but it's close enough given the accuracy of my measuring technique. I didn't see any disparity between thickness of red vs black that other were reporting. Not saying they're wrong; just that I certainly didn't have that problem with this reel. The red/black wires separate nicely when pulled, coming apart cleanly at the seam. Insulation strips easily. Overall very happy with it. Very handy for doing little automotive/electronic projects. Hope this is helpful. ... show more

This wire worked out great for my application. The two wires pulled apart right down the middle seam like they're supposed to. The stripping went well ... the bare wires were a nice snug fit into the little holes of my 24V connector ... soldering went well ... made a professional-looking job. In our new home it came with an alarm system, but wasn't hooked up at all and was just wires coming out of the wall and a boxed security board on the wall. I needed something to connect the ac adapter to the mother board, and this worked perfectly!

    • Nice product, but 1 wire is smaller than the other !
I used this wire for LED lighting in my camper that I'm re-doing. I loved it, but can only give it 4 stars because it's not true 18 gauge. The red wire is, but the black wire is smaller than the red wire. I'm not sure what gauge the black wire actually is, but it is definitely smaller than the red one. But it worked perfect for my LED lights, which is what it's made for. It's easy to work with, but the black wire was so small it was hard using the connecters that I had specifically for 18g wire. I ended up using "scotch locks" made for 18-22 gauge wire and they worked great for my application. I wouldn't hesitate to use this product again, just want others to know the wire isn't 18g on both wires. This wire is specifically for LED lighting, but can be used for any low voltage, low amp draw applications. I'd go with bigger wire if you are wiring for anything over a 10 amp draw application. ... show more

Good quality wire so far for the applications I've used it for, which is wiring my shed with LED strips off of a 12V battery. It is easy to handle. I have not checked the wire gauge for accuracy since I don't push the current limits that hard and allow for a little margin in current handling capabilities. ... show more

Decent quality wire. I used it for powering RGBW LED strips, so you aren't limited to single color so long as you are going to hook up the data some other way (I used JT-2 connectors with their own pigtails). Data and power were hooking up in different locations in my project, so I didn't need more than 2 conductors for the power. ... show more

Not 18ga! I'm holding it next to an 18ga electrical cable purchased for std electrical work and there is a significant difference. This one is 20ga maybe.
