  • I don't think they're coated
String Gauge: 4-strings (45-105)
Feel a little rough as compared to a mainstream quality brand . Do these have a coating? If they do, it's super thin unlike elixirs or D'Addario XT. I wouldn't buy them again.

  • It brought my old bass back to life
String Gauge: 4-strings (45-105)
I’ve got a small home recording studio, and I’ll admit—I neglected my bass for a couple of years. It sat in its case untouched, and when I finally pulled it out, the strings were in terrible shape. I replaced them with these, and honestly, it brought the bass back to life. The tone is noticeably brighter—maybe even better than I remember it ever sounding. They feel like they’re made from quality materials, and I’m optimistic about their lifespan. The protective coating is a big plus, helping prevent tarnish and extend their usability. As long as I keep them clean, I expect them to last a good while. Overall, that makes them a solid value and a great upgrade for anyone bringing an old bass back into rotation. ... show more

  • Good, budget option for practice & experimenting
String Gauge: 5-strings (45-130)
These are solid budget bass strings as long as you go in with realistic expectations. They’re definitely brighter sounding than the vintage-style flatwounds I usually prefer, but on an active bass that extra brightness actually works pretty well. The low end stays clear and they handle alternate tunings without feeling floppy. At this price, I wouldn’t compare them to premium boutique strings, but honestly that’s not really the point. They’re cheap enough that you can experiment with tunings, gauges, or setups without worrying about wasting expensive strings. Overall, they sound good, the coating feels decent on the fingers, and are absolutely usable for practice or everyday playing. ... show more

  • They've worked for me so far They've worked for me so far
String Gauge: 4-strings (45-105)
The value is definitely there for this being cheaper than most name brand options. They sound nice and bright. Personally I got these and stuck them on a cheaper base and they did help with how it played and sounded out of the box. It's been a couple months now and they've held up just fine to some regular play as well as some time sitting in being picked back up ... show more

  • Meh Strings for Budget Basses Meh Strings for Budget Basses
String Gauge: 4-strings (45-105)
These strings are okay I guess for a lower end bass. They hold up fine for casual playing and the tone is decent enough without being anything special. I put them on my beater bass and they worked without any issues right out of the pack. But I wouldn't use them on better quality instruments. The feel is a bit rough after a few hours and they don't have that crisp response you want on nicer gear. Fine for starters or backups but nothing I'd keep long term. ... show more

  • A bit spendy for strings not from one of the major players.
String Gauge: 5-strings (45-130)
I saw this set of bass strings come available through Amazon’s Vine program and somewhat debated on going with the 4 or 5 string set. I do play my 4 strings more frequently, but the oldest set of strings I have is on my Schecter Omen Elite-5, so I sent ahead and ordered the 5 string set. For kicks, I did toss a set of calipers on the G string and it came in right at about 045… my cheapo calipers would hop between 0445 and 0450… potentially five ten thousands off? For my purpose… not a problem at all… and that could have easily been my calipers. The set strung up just fine and once tugged and settled, seems to be staying in tune pretty well, no real difference from the DRs that came off the bass. I did have some hesitation with tossing this relatively light on top set on my 5 string when the point was to get lower nastier tone with the low B without needing to down-tune. Now while I would be happier with a 140 or 145 B, I actually like the brighter pop on the upper end, offering something a bit more unique when through my ElectroHarmonix Bass Big Muff Deluxe. Sounds pretty good so far. Any downsides? Well, yes… sort of. That downside is value. The current listing price is just a hair under $23. Admittedly, that isn’t bad for a decent set of strings for a 5-string. But it also isn’t spectacular either. Five string sets from major players in the market like D’Addario, Ernie Ball, GHS, DR, and Dunlop, can be had for just a couple bucks more, and in the case of D’Addario, some varieties for the same money. If it hadn’t been for acquiring this set through Amazon’s vine program, I wouldn’t have even looked twice at this set when scrolling through the long list of strings. They don’t seem bad at all so far, but are not offering me anything to pick them over a name with a history to it. ... show more

  • Nice value replacement strings
String Gauge: 4-strings (45-105)
I used these strings to replace the factory strings I had on an EB0 short scale bass. I was delighted at the sound, these being slightly lighter than the old strings, and snappier. They seem as well made as other strings I have bought, and were packaged well. I like the feel, they are slinky and easy to play. No signs of oxidation or age in the packaging. These are a great value and perfect for short scale instruments. ... show more

  • Decent strings.
String Gauge: 5-strings (45-130)
So far the strings seem like they’re good. They're not Ernie Ball but they’re not bad. My one major concern is that they’re not packaged in a sealed package. At least with major brands they package them in sealed pouches so they can’t oxidize over time. Thankfully I didn’t have that issue with this set but other sets may not be so lucky. These strings do not sound bad but I did notice that my pickups do not pick them up as much as my Ernie Ball strings. So they’re definitely not as hot. I’d definitely recommend these to a beginner who can’t afford a $50 set of 5-string bass strings. I knocked off one star solely because of the packaging. 8/10. ... show more
