A wonderful & simple solution. Note: use plastic garden stakes to keep leaves away from plastic as bamboo stakes became a wee bit moldy. Keep room light but NO direct sunlight. I live in San Antonio, TX and we had very uncommon drops below freezing Winter 2022. I bought these specifically in prep for 11° weather expected. Some of my plants did fine and others completely suffered. In some cases, I think these plastic covers created too much of a greenhouse/hot box effect and killed the beautiful greenery of my potted plants, which are only now starting to grow back. I'm not sure I'll use these next year. I think my plants did better in prior years with just the plant cloths and old sheets. Perhaps these plastic covers are good for only certain types of plants. My tropical plants (a palm tree, and a bird of paradise specifically) looked as though they had been steam-cooked to death. So use at your own risk.

Since plastic bags have been all but outlawed where I live, I had to buy these to surround my tomato cages. Summer is short and—lately—too cool for tomatoes’ taste in the Pacific Northwest. I have found that I can set tomatoes out earlier and get much better results by surrounding their cages at the bottom few feet with clear plastic, open at the top so it does not get too hot. These should work as well as the bags I used previously, and much better than the Saran Wrap I had to resort to last year. The drawstrings will even allow me to close them at night early in the spring.

These are large plastic bags. Not much to it. They will protect plants from cold winds, but more sensitive foliage may get damaged. I don't think they really protect from freezes, as they are not insulating. I checked with some remote thermometers and there was no temperature difference inside and outside the bag. So I am not sure what to think. Maybe to keep a moister atmosphere for rainforest plants like Orchids? Not sure. Need to build something more protective for my little fruit trees.
