If your going to work on a front loader machine this tool is a must have. I had to replace my front panel due to the paint was chipping off( a known problem ) and this tool made it so easy and quick. If you own a Kenmore or LG front loader this will work perfect.

Don’t even think about repairing that front-load washer without this tool. I saw many videos online where people were using/abusing butter knives and screwdrivers, and it took them forever to remove and re-install this metal spring. Most videos cut away and come back probably hours later. LOL Then I saw someone (an actual pro) use this tool and it was effortless and fast. Our 6-year old LG front-loading washing machine has operated flawlessly with the exception of the infamous "de" error code indicating a door locking issue which had significantly worsened recently. I looked on YouTube and found countless videos on the simple replacement of the LG Door Lock assembly. The LG replacement part was readily available and very inexpensive on Amazon Prime. Every single video indicated the most difficult part of the job was replacing the LG retaining wire/spring on the rubber door seal. Every single Youtube video also mentioned a "special but expensive tool" specifically built to remove/replace the wire and spring retaining assembly. I found several of the so-called “special tools” right here on Amazon Prime for less than $25 listed under “Washing Machine Inner/Outer Tub Spring Removal Expansion Tool, Replace for LG and Samsung,” with a search to that effect. So…long story short…to make the job TOTALLY PAINLESS I bought both the replacement LG door lock switch AND this special tool on Amazon Prime. After spending less than $50 in parts on Amazon Prime it took me all of about ten minutes to complete this job. Our LG washing Machine is working like new now. My wife could’ve EASILY done this repair herself after watching me do it using this special tool which was worth every cent of what I paid!!! So, make your life easy. Buy BOTH the replacement door switch AND this special tool here on Amazon Prime! I’ve attached photos showing the replacement process, the replacement switch/door lock and the special tool. Removing the gasket spring and putting it back on has been the worst part about fixing my washer/dryer. This tool makes it so much easier and faster. No pinched fingers, on and off in under a minute. I'm a single mom with no "shop" experience, but man I really didn't want to call out a repair service and wrack up a $100+ bill to have the spring on my washing machine's door seal put back into place when my children somehow managed to pop it off. I struggled for more than an hour with other tools trying to do the job before I looked on-line to find that I needed a pair of "spring pliers". After looking at photos, these looked perfect.     • Buy the right tool for the job.
When I first disassembled my washer to clean the pump, I didn't have this product and I was using a flat head screwdriver to remove and reinstall the tub spring. Don't do what I did. I could've easily punctured that rubber by going the cheap route. I decided to buy this for my second go around since cleaning the pump was a no-go and buying a new pump was the only way to fix my washer. It works pretty well, certainly better than anything else for the spring clamps. I wish the little notches for the spring wire to rest in were bigger or in a slightly different place. The spring kept slipping out of them.
