Does work well on them little springs

  • It worked on my LG washer bellows spring retainer - vice grips help.
Color: Blue
I had to use vice grips to keep it at full expansion while I positioned the spring retaining wire around the inner bellows. Easy to help remove. The handles are a little shorter than they should be and to get the spring expanded as far as I wanted took the full expansion of the tool with my hands right at the end of the tool. I eventually used vice grips to keep the expansion tool and the spring expanded at the full distance to allow me to place the expanded ring around the seals (inner and outer) without pushing as hard as I can. I can't imagine this job without the tool. I have the blue version bought at end of 2021. The welds look amateur but it worked. Max expansion is just shy of 5 3/4" outside of expansion finger to outside of expansion finger. ... show more

  • Perfect for Bosch--- with modification
Color: Red
I have a Bosch front loading washer (WAS20160UC). This extension tool was perfect for the Bosch spring clamp because it extends to over 5 inches. (most only expand to around 4.4 inches). I anticipated needing another person, but I got the clamp re-installed on the new gasket / boot within less than a minute. HOWEVER, there is a caveat: the tips on the tool are too large for the holes of the spring. I used an iron file to file each tip to be narrower--- took about 10 minutes. ... show more

  • The tool for the job
Color: Blue
I used this product to refit the springs around the LG front-load washer gasket which we were replacing. I did a lot of research before purchasing this tool. And, yes, YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED THIS TOOL. Now, I don't think this tool widens enough to expand the spring enough. This was a two person job. One held this tool to expand the spring, and the other person used a flat head screwdriver to slip the remaining wire over the gasket because it wasn't expanded enough. We did this twice initially for the inner, and failed to get the wire in the right spot. Once, it looked like it was in the groove, but it had slipped UNDER. So be sure to first, put the wire at the bottom portion and then open it to fit the rest in the groove. Once we got the hang of it, it worked out until fitting the outer ring. THE PRONG TIPS ARE TOO LONG. We had to slowly rock this tool up and down to slip the wire lower and lower to the end of the prongs. In total, it took about 1.5hours for us to complete because another part of the washer wouldn't come out. We had ZERO experience coming into this. With a video from YouTube and the required tools; I believe most people with strong hands, determination, and the ability to follow directions can complete this task. I should mention that I contacted LG about what exact size prongs are needed for this (LG sells their own that cost a ton of money), and they predictably said that you need to call a technician to replace the gasket... If this tool can be purchased second-hand; do it. These are not high quality. There is no additional padding on the handles and the next day our hands hurt so much. These also expanded one part of the inner spring; so, you maybe got three tries with that inner before the part that holds the spring bends. There is another tool you can use JUST for the inner ring. We did it without it. But I could see if you could get one second hand that expanded more than this, it could be helpful. Between this one tool and the gasket: fixed for under 85$. It's a crappy tool, but I'm so relieved it's done and the washer works. ... show more

  • Perfect for LG washer boot.
Color: Blue
I used this to install the inner and outer retaining springs for the LG washer boot. I also used the tool to remove the inner retaining spring. The boot is like a big Tupperware lid and has to fit properly for a good seal. The spring/wire loop fits in a ridge to hold the boot in place. Here are my recommendations: 1) Watch a few videos. 2) lubricate the inner seal ridge with a little laundry soap to make placement easy. 3) Use this spring tool ( I used the blue one ) to expand the spring without fighting it. If you have ever done drum brakes, you’ll know what I mean. Note: this one opens over 5 inches wide. Other tools I reviewed don’t open as wide and the reviewers had problems with opening the spring wide enough. ... show more

  • Make you life easy
Color: Blue
I may only use this once, but it was worth it. It makes removing and installing washing machine gasket springs really easy. I have lots of tools, but nothing like this which expands when you squeeze. I may find other uses, but even if I don't I'm glad I got it.
