Got these as most reviews suggest this is much needed when changing the washer boot seal and I would agree. Didn't need any expensive tool as this worked just fine at a cheap price. The only thing to note is that for the inner ring, it does not open wide enough to use the loops and used the closer spring loop. While this tool made things much easier, it was still really hard to keep the ring open to seat it into the groove properly, but I still suggest you just spend a little money and pick up this cheap tool and make your life easier. I wound up using the flat end of screwdriver to kind of help push the ring into the groove. ... show more

Installing the washer retention rings when replacing the door seal was still a bit tricky even with this tool. Pretty sure the level of frustration of doing the project without this tool would have FAR exceeded the $12 cost. Even if I never use it again, it was worth it.

    • One of the best purchases I've made in a while, even if I never use it again
I really did not want to buy a specialized tool, just to remove and reinstall the spring on my washer, on my way to replacing a $30 drain pump. After reading some reviews, I decided having the right tool that would save me time and frustration was probably worth it. However, being the way I am, I decided to spend the extra cash on the LG OEM version of the tool. The day that I went to buy it, the price had gone way up. When it was 4 times the price of this generic one, I somehow justified the price, but when it went up to almost 7 times, I had to call BS. Along with the LG OEM drain pump, I purchased the Romalon spring removal tool and it worked out perfectly. The tool comes wrapped in a rather flimsy bubble wrap, sans any other packaging. The tips of the tool had punctured through the bubble wrap, so the company should reconsider how they package the tool. That being said, the tool didn't appear damaged and worked just fine. To play it safe, I wore safety gloves and safety glasses during both the removal and reattachment. It could not have gone any smoother. The whole process was anticlimactic as I was expecting it to be a lot harder. It took about 5 seconds to remove and maybe 20 seconds to reattach. I give all the credit to the tool. If you have to deal with the spring on your LG washer, I highly recommend getting this tool. Don't bother with the LG OEM version as it's just obscenely overpriced and doesn't offer ANY extra features. ... show more

    • Effortless to put the outer spring ring back on!
I've taken my LG WM2277 washer apart several times over the years. It was always a PITA to get the outer boot spring ring back on. Usually involved a second set of hands and some levering with a screwdriver. With this tool, SO easy. No assistance required. Should have bought it years ago!

    • ONLY ONE OF TWO NEEDED
If you are getting this for an LG boot change, be aware that this is only for the outer ring. Τhere is an inner ring you'd need to take out too, and this tool is useless for that ring. The right tool for the inner ring costs in the neighborhood of $100. So, between this and that tools and the overall effort and labor you'd need to put into this repair, maybe better off getting repair service. And this, I, the queen of self repairing and avid advocate to the right to repair, is not something I'd ever recommend lightly. ... show more

Although it says for Samsung Washer Boot Retaining Spring the tips of the tool are far too large to fit into the springs. It does seem like it is fairly good quality but doesn’t work as advertised.
