  • BRIGHT CRISP CLEAR IMAGES ENTIRE FIELD OF VIEW
Color: 20x50
What I really like about this set of binoculars falls into two categories. The first is the mechanical integrity. In my opinion it is clearly well made. Smooth operation of all adjustments. The second would be the view from the optics...are they good and do they deliver a fine clear image for the eye? They do that quite well because the objective lens is large and the coating process is good. Light transference and magnification is uncommonly good to excellent. In my testing on my static objects in the field I really had to concentrate in order to see any, if any, chromatic distortions. There was a great absence of these aberrations that rob from the ability to see crisp clear detail. These Binoculars delivered crisp clear detail but with the extra bonus of slightly brighter images captured on all areas of the field of view. One of my static test subjects is a church steeple and spire at two miles distance from my apartment window. It is wall and good to see the shutters in the belfry but to see the religious pediment at the top of the spire and to it clearly with precision definition while still seeing the shutters below is a tough test. This pair of binoculars impressed me with that ability. It certainly ranks with some of the best that I have tested for a review. Now that brings us to the tough part, deciding whether or not this fine set of binoculars should receiver a full five star rating for performance and value. Much of the rating is on performance and they do perform in the realm of excellence. But there are others out there that do a commendable performance for twenty dollars less in cost. Maybe not quite the performers but close enough that only an expert could tell the difference. So it is that these binoculars offer great performance for a greater price. At a price of over eighty dollars they are putting their shadow on a hundred bucks. So it really gets down to what you want. If you want a pair that are well made. True to specification and perform like a pair of pricey binoculars would be expected to perform, then these will deliver satisfaction without doubt. So with that little caveat in place in regarding the cost I shall continue to point out that they do have outstanding attributes such as quality mechanical construction and near perfect optics that begs for a full five star rating. I am giving them the full five stars. Before writing this review I took them to the tripod at the window and gave them one more time to show me obvious inferiority. I did not find any, and in fact on the night capture I was awakened to superiority. I was looking at a distant signboard and was doubly impressed with the brightness and clarity of the sign lettering and color. The light transference was excellent. Those large objective lenses really gather and deliver the light from a dimly lit objects. That is another reason for no equivocation regarding the final rating of five stars for this 20X50mm binoculars. ... show more

  • Consider these if you have a low budget but need high magnification
Color: 20x50
I thought the magnification would be too strong to hold these binoculars by hand because high magnification often results in a shaky or jittery picture. However, I found the field of view to be relatively stable when holding them by hand; a tripod is not required. The binos are coated to make them waterproof and non-slipping. They come with flip-down objective lens covers, removable ocular lens covers, and a carry bag with accompanying neck strap. The fit and finish give it a quality appearance and feel. It has a wide field of view and good optical clarity through the lenses. With 50 mm objective lenses, these binos can be used in low-light conditions. The focus wheel is smooth and natural to adjust, which makes it easy to quickly focus on a subject. Also, I didn’t notice any eye strain, which is something I sometimes experience with binos. Finally, the right ocular piece has an adjustable parallax that compensates for your specific eyesight to better focus on the subject. One thing I didn’t like was the occasional chromatic aberration. I did notice a fine thin ring of chromatic aberration around the outermost edge of the viewing ring and sometimes around bright objects in the center of view. It wasn’t too much of an issue but is something you need to consider, especially if you intend to take pictures through your binos. Overall, this is a solid pair of porro prism binoculars. I don’t plan to use these as my primary pair of binos, but will use them when I need to view subjects over extended distances that require higher magnification. At its price point, you are getting a quality pair of binos with a good set of features. ... show more

  • Like these binocular
Color: 20x50
I 👍 the far distance with the powerful lenses. I can see far away about 1/2 miles from my house to the park in my neighborhood. This binoculars near or far give you beautiful clear vision, colors, wide and bright view. Birds are amazing to look at and also for sports.

  • They’re OK
Color: 20x50
These binoculars had a less than professional feel. Maybe that’s a good thing – they were lightweight. The central focus knob felt especially sloppy but otherwise the felt OK in the hands. Optically, the images looked pretty decent. These binoculars might be handy for taking out on camping or canoe trips, as they are light and seem fairly water resistant and you might not feel so bad if they fell overboard. ... show more

  • Light build quality, but great optics and ergonomics
Color: 20x50
If you aren't familiar with binoculars, please take the time to read the instruction card that these come with. It details how to adjust the individual eyepiece focus, and then the overall focus for distance, as well as the proper distance between eyepieces. It seems like a simple thing, but the three adjustments together are critical to a sharp picture. After doing this, the picture is excellent, and very sharp. I used them to watch finches at a bird feeder about 100 yards from our house. The details on the birds were very sharp, and it was easy to follow their activity. The ergonomics in these binoculars is excellent. They are very comfortable to use, and have grippy rubber right where you'd want it. The caps are adequate, but the carrying case is not going to protect them from much more than dust. These binoculars seem to me a perfect option for someone new to birdwatching, or who will primarily watch birds from a less rugged observation post. If you have a feeder near your house that you watch from a window, you will receive an excellent tool for watching birds. If you are in the field, and these might be banging around a backpack, I'm not sure they will hold up as well. As an example, the plastic rings which adjust the eyepieces flex with pressure, and over time I'm not sure they would hold up to abuse. You could spend considerably more to get a slightly more rugged set with similar optical quality, so overall I feel these are a good value if you use them in the proper context. ... show more
