I had been using a old teeny MSW inverter in the barn, attached to a couple marine batteries (of which I used to zap every so often with a regular battery charger). My wife bought me a couple of solar panels for this Christmas, which then started this saga. I decided I wanted to upgrade "my system", so I originally sprang for the 1000 w Voltworks PSW inverter (mid Dec.). Upon arrival, I immediately tried to "hammer" the unit - I plugged in a 10 amp skil saw to it, to cut the plate I was going to mount it on. I could not believe that the darn thing did it - I was truly impressed! A couple of days later, I gave this unit its second test - I ran a 100 ft extension cord (12 ga) into the house, to see if it could run the fridge (Whirlpool - 6 amp - according to the plate). Unfortunately it failed. Checked the fridge with a kilowatt meter, and it starts up at 1240 watts, then settles down to about 260 for operation. I decided that I wanted to actually be able to run the refrigerator off an inverter during outages - so I boxed up the 1000 watt unit for return, and ordered the bigger1500 watt unit from Voltworks (to handle the startup spike). What amazed me thoroughly, was that during the transition of units coming and going - Grace from Voltworks took the iniative and contacted me regarding my inverter application! After my explanation, she suggested that I go to the 2000 watt unit, to ensure I had enough headroom in wattage, as my fridge is not a newer "energy star" type. I probably would have done that, but the 1500 watt unit had promptly arrived - so I decided to give it a whirl! I wired it up using the same 2 gauge cables - and hammered it with a 1500 w oil heater (on high). The kilowatt meter showed it pulling 1480 amps - I left it run for about a half an hour, and the new inverter didn't even break a sweat! On to test #2 - I stretched the 100 foot extension cord back into the house, plugged in the kilowatt meter, then plugged in the fridge - AND IT RAN! I left it on for about an hour - and again, the inverter did not even break a sweat! As a final test, I killed the main breaker to the house. I then back fed the inverter to half the house through the hot tub 20 amp circuit (which goes straight to the breaker box - yeah I know this is a no-no). This 1500 watt unit is running half the house with lights, two TVs on it, and it's the circuit side with the fridge on it! WOW! While I could have gone with a bigger unit, I wanted the minimal inverter needed - as to minimize the loss of energy consumption during standby. My initial observations are that I really like this 1500 watt unit! I love the solid build quality, and the fluorescent display which gives you the critical information. I recommend using 2 gauge or thicker cabling to feed it (they send 4 gauge with it) - because it seems this thing is quite a monster! I having this on site, it allows me to QUIETLY cover the essential needs during power outages - and I can recharge the batteries via solar, an existing gas generator, or even off the alternator of the truck if needed. This is my first Voltworks product - and I paid full price for it. I have used Samlex and Xantex in the past - and this unit appears to be on par with that same quality. The fact that they contacted me regarding my application, and the three-year warranty included with this unit, gives me confidence that this unit will perform. I hope this review helps any of you out there, and I will update if there is anything else to add.

My initial experiences with VOLTWorks were less than ideal, primarily due to an unusual incident involving a malfunctioning unit that produced louder-than-expected humming sounds. I reached out to VOLTWORKS support, who proved to be both helpful and diligent in their responses and follow-up communications. Subsequently, I was provided with a replacement unit. After a disappointing experience with an earlier model, I put the new device through rigorous tests under various load conditions. Its real-world performance was conclusively demonstrated during a recent power outage caused by a wildfire in my home state of New Jersey. The inverter effectively powered crucial refrigerated items, preserving medication and food, for over 24 hours without fail. Throughout this duration, it functioned flawlessly, showing no signs of issues such as noise, buzzing, or overheating. This device is exceptional and lives up to the high standards I had anticipated.

Tested with Bolt EV and reliably runs refrigerator and numerous LED lights simultaneously. Time will tell. Shipped well packaged and exterior at least seems high quality.

Product works REALLY well, can't complain about it's functionality one bit! Plug in and USB options work great and have had zero issues. The only issue I have is that the screen is only visible if you are looking straight at it, if you look at an angle then you can't read it at all, just looks blank. Other than that, it is very sturdy and work remarkably well!

Having already purchased the 1500W Pure Sine Wave Inverter for a work truck, I opted for the 1000W PSW for my daily use SUV. Both inverters have performed exceedingly well. I don't have a need for the full output wattage of either of the inverters but I had two reasons for buying the excess power. 1. I didn't want to have a cooling fan whirring in the background while making phone calls over bluetooth. 2. I often operate audio equipment which can have a momentary high power draw. During daily use, the cooling fans have not activated on either of the inverters. I did perform a test with a heat gun and soldering iron plugged in to verify that the fans would activate when needed. I took some photos of that condition but I didn't realize that I had been dropping sweat onto the LCD display and made it unreadable in some of the photos... hot summer days. The fans are not loud but are noticeably audible. A very cool feature of having the inverter in the cabin of your vehicle is that it's like having the actual car battery at your fingertips. I added taps to the terminals of the inverter and connected them to the reverse-gear signal of my double-din stereo, with a multi-position switch in-between. I can now use the switch to alternate between my vehicle cameras on demand. The wiring is easily concealed and didn't require disassembling the dashboard to tap into the vehicle 12-volt lines. I no longer think of my vehicles having a 12-volt limitation and it's now 2nd nature to simply plug in any power tool, lighting accessory, or audio component without concern. The Pure Sine Wave is a must for audio equipment and power tools benefit as well. I own a DeWalt 1000W Modified Sine Wave inverter and it's now sitting on a shelf. I can hear a difference in a metal grinder running with the Pure Sine Wave inverter and feel the tool doesn't get hot as it does with the Modified Sine Wave inverter. I run the inverters for a couple of hours continuous use each day and neither of them have shutdown, blown a fuse, or drained my truck battery. The customer service at VoltWorks is unmatched. They reply right away to an email inquiry and are very solution-minded. With solar panel projects in my future, the reliable customer service at VoltWorks means they will be my first choice for inverters.
