I run a trucking company and order these for all new drivers. They’re affordable, reliable, and last around four years with daily use five days a week. Definitely worth the money!

  • Decent inverter for the price, undersized cables, lacks some features. Decent inverter for the price, undersized cables, lacks some features.
Size: 2000
This review is for the 2000 Watt version of this TVNIKD inverter. This inverter seems to be well constructed. It looks and feels very solid. But this inverter is lacking some features that other similarly sized inverters include at just a little higher cost point. The cables supplied with this inverter look to be CCA, not pure copper. See photo. The ad copy does not specify CCA or copper, but examining the end of the cut cable, it sure looks like CCA. A 2000 Watt inverter draws about 166 Amps from a 12 Volt battery even if we assume 100% efficiency. The cables supplied with the inverter have no markings on them to indicate what gauge they are. I measured the cable diameter with a pair of vernier calipers and the cable measures about 0.156 inches in diameter. 6 GA cable is about 0.162 inches in diameter, so I assume that this is 6 GA cable. 6 GA pure copper cable is good for 37 Amps to 70 Amps depending on what ampacity chart you look at. 6GA CCA cable is good for only 40 to 50 Amps depending on where you look. So even if these cables were pure copper, they are severely undersized for a 2000 Watt inverter if the whole inverter capacity is to be used. With the 6 GA CCA cables supplied with this inverter, I would not load the inverter to more than 12V X 50 A = 600 Watts. To use the full 2000 Watts that this inverter is rated for, a 1/0 copper cable should be used, and it should be fused appropriately. In my opinion, the cables supplied with this inverter are way undersized for 2000 Watts. I made up a set of 1/0 pure copper cables for this inverter (shown in last photo) and inserted a 100A MAXI fuse in the positive battery cable. That 100A fuse will limit the allowable inverter load to about 1200 Watts, but that’s the largest fuse that I had on hand. The decimal point on the digital display on the unit that I received never illuminated. It showed values between 120 and 137. Nowhere in the ad copy or in the manual does it specify if the displayed value is battery voltage or AC output voltage. I assume that it shows DC battery voltage, but if it is, it’s pretty inaccurate, because at high loads on the inverter the displayed value actually went from 120 to 137. That makes no sense if the displayed value is DC battery voltage. The voltage under higher loads should have decreased, not increased. The photos in the ad copy seem to show an illuminated decimal point, so I have to assume that the display on the inverter that I received is defective. I used a meter to check the battery voltage and AC output voltage. When the digital meter on the inverter read 111, the battery voltage was 13.3 VDC and the AC output voltage read 116.4. So the digital display on the inverter didn’t match anything. The inverter has a wired remote on/off button, but there is no display with that remote, so if the inverter is mounted out of sight, there’s no indication of battery voltage at the remote. For that matter, there’s no indication at the remote as to whether the inverter is turned on or not. There’s just a black pushbutton. A remote that shows inverter on/off status, battery voltage, and output voltage would be much more useful. The battery cable terminals on the inverter do not have any type of protective insulators on them, so the lugs on the inverter and on the battery cables remain exposed. They should have provide some type of slip-on insulators to protect those connections. I connected two large shop fans to the inverter and turned each one on. Both fans start up smoothly without making any unusual noises, so I think that the soft-start feature of the inverter does work as expected. I did not have a load large enough or a battery big enough to test this inverter at 2000 Watts. I was only able to run it at about 600 Watts. It handled that load fine, and even after 20 minutes or so at 600 Watts, the inverter case was not even warm, and the inverter cooling fans never had to turn on. The price point on this 2000 Watt inverter is certainly attractive, but for few dollars more there are inverters available with better features. I suppose which is a better choice depends on the planned use of the inverter. ... show more
