Had a slow shower drain that I couldn't get into too well to clear with a metal coat hanger. Checked out a few options on Amazon and decided to give this Drain Snake a try. In less than 5 minutes, my drain was flowing well. As others noted, the Velcro tip is a little hard to clean, although I managed to get most of the hair off. If I need it again, I hope it works. Review is for a 3 pack of 30 inches long drain snake to be used in sinks and tubs. I got this because the previous one was too short and needed something to deeper to clear the hair. To begin it was a bit stiff but then it was able to get it and get the crap out. Glad there are 3 so that it can be stored at different locations. The product is strong but flexible.     • Much better than the spiked drain cleaners
This product has worked well and is definitely designed to use multiple times, however the Velcro type end does start to wear out over time and 4-5 uses. I love how easy this drain cleaner pushes down the tub drain, as it does not get caught on anything and slides right to the clog. The velcro on the end does grab the hair very well, but it is kinda hard to get all the hair off once you pull back out of the drain as the hair just wants to stick and wrap around the end. I previously used the plastic orange drain cleaner, but I definitely prefer this one over those as the hair grabbers on the plastic ones get stuck on everything and are difficult at times to fish down the drain. This particular one has a smooth plastic outside cover that fishes down very easy and flexes very easily if needed. For the price this item is listed at, I feel these are a great buy and they work very well. I rated 3 stars due to only being able to use about 4-5 times and how hard the hair sometimes is to take off the end once pulled out of the drain. ... show more

I had long hair for a few years until I donated it last October, but my wife and daughters have had long hair most of their lives, so I have been dealing with slow, hair clogged drains for years. Years ago, I would hire a plumber to clear the drains and snake the main line line which would clog with roots, grease, hair and various other impediments. Over time, I've found that regular drain maintenance with a liquid cleaner and using one of those plastic/nylon drain tools to remove hair accumulated in the first two feet of the sink plugs and shower drain have almost eliminated calls to the plumber. One of the biggest inconveniences to this system has been the plastic "drain clog remover" snakes, which are a bit wide for some of the drain screens and not flexible enough to easily slide past sliding sink stoppers. I've even had one break off inside a sink drain. I have been looking for a good alternative for some time; this is it. While I'm not sure I need and cable that can withstand 300lbs of pull, I don't believe it will break off in the drain, like plastic can. The thickness or gauge of the cable allows fairly easy passage into drains and the gripping end can be rotated by turning the loop handle. The hooks on these are small, but that adds to the ease in getting the tool past stopper and screen obstructions. These hooks or "teeth" are also what make these less than perfect. Unless this tool hooks a significant clump, it requires several attempts per drain to get all of the hair from different angles of drain entry. The teeth are also difficult to clean which is kind of gross, as one would expect, and one probably doesn't want to wash the crud pulled out of the drain back in by washing it right there. I definitely recommend these for their intended use, but slightly larger and less dense teeth would make the job even easier. ... show more

I tried these on 2 different drains, one of which, I knew already had a lot of hair, and was draining slow. I only pulled up the tiniest amount of hair, and then, was impossible to clean. The barbs are tiny, don't pull much hair, get "saturated" too fast, then the hair will NOT come off. Am I supposed to just throw this away so it can never degrade in a landfill? The 2nd drain, it pulled up nothing. Worthless product. Did they even test it? ... show more
