  • Nice inexpensive induction cooktop (BP-DCL12, 30 inch 4 burner cooktoop)
Size: 30 Inch
Pros: - Heats quickly - Installs easily - Inexpensive - Intuitive controls - No knobs for food to get stuck under Cons: - Element shuts off if pan removed for 30 seconds - Requires induction cookware My partner and I purchased this to replace our Whirlpool electric (non-induction cooktop). Our main complaint with the Whirlpool was that it took forever to heat, even on its highest setting. This induction cooktop heats much faster. It can boil a small pot of water in a few minutes. When doing research on induction cooktops, we came across a video claiming that the induction elements in inexpensive cooktops were all small (6 inches), leading to cooking problems in the periphery of the pan. This does not appear to be a problem with the large element on this cooktop. The first thing I cooked on it were crepes in a 12 inch pan. The outer portion of the crepes cooked thoroughly; though the outer 1 inch or so were not as brown as the inner part of the crepe. Thermal photos of the 12 inch pan after a few seconds of heating show the relative size of the heating elements. The front right (small) element heats a small section of the pan; the rear right (large) element heats a much larger section of the pan. Overall, I'm satisfied with this cooktop's ability to heat a 12 inch pan. The left side of the cooktop has a "sync" feature that allows you to control the two left burners with the same settings. This is for griddles, or pans that you might want to span two burners. The manual suggests there is a "bridge" element. To me this sounded like there was another heating element between the two burners to heat the center of the griddle. Based on thermal pictures of a pan spanning the two left burners (in "sync" mode"), I don't see any heat from a third element. The heat on the left appears to come only from the two elements drawn on the surface. The specs for this don't the element wattage; however the included manual does. Both left elements are 1850W, 2100W in "boost" mode. The large right rear element is 2500W, 3200W in "boost" mode. The small right front element is 1200W, 1600W in "boost" mode. When heating there is a buzzing sound. Not too loud, but worth mentioning. When making crepes, I often take the crepe pan off the burner to either serve them or flip the crepe. At one point while doing this the element shut off. Having to turn the element back on in the middle of cooking was a little annoying; 60 seconds would be ideal. The controls are straightforward. Press the burner button, then press the cooking level. There are also preset levels for certain cooking styles, and an "All Off" button. In my opinion, the touch controls make the cooktop much easier to clean than one with knobs. As with any induction stove, not all cookware is compatible with this. If a magnet doesn't stick to the pot, this won't heat it. If you've looked into induction stoves this isn't surprising, but again worth mentioning. We've had this stove a total of 24 hours and have used it to boil water for tea and make crepes. The crepes cooked evenly and the water boils really fast. We're really happy we bought this cooktop. ... show more

  • Works Great!!!
Size: 30 Inch
I still can't believe the low cost of this stove top. I waited to write a review because I didn't have high expectations. But we have had it for several months now and have zero complaints. The noise isn't loud, it is just different and not what you are used to hearing when you turn it on. But in no way disruptive. I was also worried I'd have to learn to cook some things all over again, because it does heat up fast. This is a little true, but bad. Oil for frying, for example, I just work on a setting or two lower than I used to with regular stove tops. Definitely recommend! ... show more

  • A little less than perfect, with a 3-digit timer that only beeps.
Size: 30 Inch
Update #3: 07/01/2025 MY MISTAKE. PLEASE IGNORE UPDATE #2 Update #2 showed a 1.43-Amp load after all elements were off. BUT -- after 2-minutes and 30-seconds the system does drop the high stand-by current to about 0.03-Amps. The electrician was a little too hasty with the first report. I heard it click a while after it had been "all-off" and got him back for a timed check. Sure enough it drops the current at 2m:30s. The no-pan thing (UPDATE #1) has not returned so I am upping the stars to 4. We love this thing. Update #2: 06/30/2025 -- DELETED MY MISTAKE. PLEASE IGNORE UPDATE #2 Update #1: 05/31/2025 I can't seem to drop the Star-count to 3. Dang it, before the ink was dry on the first review, the right front "burner" began intermittently showing the "no-pan" icon and not cooking at level 4. Moved the pan around to make sure it was in the circle, nothing, moved to another burner and it cooked fine. Got to CS Chat and after almost half an hour, spent mostly waiting, they decided to send a replacement pronto. Called the Electrician, old removed, new installed. Problem solved. -- Well it was until breakfast this morning. Different frying pan and Right front again iffy on working. Alternating every few seconds between finding the pan and not finding it, but it eventually cooked the eggs. Very disappointed as we will have to drop that burner as we can't trust it to keep cooking. The other three have so far worked fine. Seems like a manufacturing "feature" for forced Simmer. {grin} We had tossed the old stove, so will keep this one as we **really** like the Induction process. Great price and even with the fake Timer and iffy-burner it will still suit or needs. We will give the other burners a bit of a workout before the 30-days are up, but danged disappointing. *********************** Original review: 05/28/2025 I had this in the "Save Later" cart for months. Finally it dropped to $276 so I pulled the trigger. It arrived in 2-days, extremely well packed and no damage. A rare thing out here in the boonies where rough dirt roads abound. Easy to install and hook up and had numbers showing in no time at all. Then I tried to fry eggs. The granularity of the power-control is not great. First off it uses "bang-bang" heating a term used to describe methods of heating. It means full-on for a while then totally off for a while. Changing the duration defines the average temperature. It turns on and waits until the set-temperature is met and then turns off. Then it waits until the temperate drops below the set and turns on again. This seems OK, but there is overrun in both directions. It exceeds the set on the way up and falls below the set on the way down. OK for a pot of stew, not so good for eggs. The alternate method is known as PID, a bit technical to describe , but basically it learns from each on-off cycle how long each cycle should be, so in about 5-cycles (maybe a minute or so) it holds an exact temperature. But other than that we love it. The Timer issue is weird here, all but this one brand that I could find had 2-digit timers for 99-minutes so no slow cooking there. This has 3-digits and a 10-hour maximum limit. Awesome -- well almost. The timer does nothing. other than beep. That is useless. If we need to be able to hear it for a 3-hour slow cook then we really don't need a timer. The timer should turn off the plate or the entire stove. I'd be OK with that, but as beep? Totally inane and useless. ... show more

  • Great Choice
Size: 30 Inch
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I picked this product over other I was looking at because it was the only one that showed the magnet sizes and I was impressed with the 11 inch magnet. It was a good choice! Solid performer. Instruction manual clear and easy to understand. Works great!

  • Disappointing power output
Size: 36 Inch
Horrible. I wish I could return this. This thing hardly puts out enough power to boil water. Often times I give up waiting and throw pasta into water that isn’t boiling. Forget it if you’re cooking more than one thing. I have plenty of power running to the appliance, this cooktop just doesn’t cut it. Already bought a different one to replace it and I’ve had this less than 6 months. ... show more
