The stovetop is aesthetically pleasing and constructed to a high standard. Its design allows simultaneously boiling a large crab pot in the center while other food items are prepared at the periphery. The ignition is so easy, it's ridiculous. I grew up using it in the nineteen sixties, seventies, and eighties; it was a pain in the butt using gas. You push down on the knob when it's turned to the three gas icon and the flame pops up. Horrible !!! I request a replacement as soon as I got it and have been waiting for update messages on return but they always say to wait on seller. This item is cheaply made and now has completely gone out after only having it installed for 3 weeks. While cooking a large spark occurred and now it turn on. Save your money. ... show more

This cook top replaced a 20-year-old Kitchen-Aid that was still functional but looked its age. The first thing I noticed was the Tymetic top was half the weight of the Kitchen-Aid. The sheet metal top, cast iron burner covers and cast aluminum burners were thinner and lighter than the Kitchen-Aid. However, the grey cast iron grates were more substantial and gave the look of a professional cook top. None of the above affected the performance that I could determine. The shipping carton had suffered some abuse in transit but everything inside was well packaged and the only problem was two sheared-off rubber feet on one of the grates. After several e-mails back and forth (wanting pictures, asking me to glue them back on) they agreed to send replacements. They were shipped FedEx express from China and I received them in two days. Pretty impressive. Installation was quick, the only negative being there was no way to fasten down the top. If the countertop hole is oversize the top tends to slide around. I glued strips and used wedges in the opening. Metal clamps could be fabricated if one were so inclined. A regulator and gas fittings are supplied. A word of caution. The Teflon tape supplied was white (for water connections) rather than yellow that is specified for gas fittings. A wrench to replace the gas nozzles was supplied as was a small screwdriver to adjust the flame. Instructions were clear. An added bonus with this particular seller was a wok stand that fits over the center grate. The gas jets don't seem to have the same output as its replacement but that is maybe due to the higher grate height and a learning curve. Another caution, a light wipe down with the recommended water and dish detergent erased half the manufactures logo. I would be careful cleaning around the control knobs. I was really excited to get this installed to replace our 4 burner to this 5 burner, however mine didn’t work right… Out of the box, the stove looks good, knobs are a bit small and mine had dents on it, but I was able to bypass that. During install, I found this doesn’t have the gas regulator, I had to remove the one on our whirlpool but it didn’t fit, this cooktop has a 1/2 inch inlet while the whirlpool has 3/8 inch. I went to Lowes to get an adaptor so I can use the regulator from the whirlpool, that was fine. What tipped my patience over is the upper left and upper right burner would not ignite, I have to use a lighter to see if it’s the gas, but it’s not, it lit up with the lighter. There are fine adjustments on the gas inside the knob, out of the box when i lowered the heat to low the light turned off, that was an easy fix by inserting the small screw driver inside the knob holder and turning it counter clockwise. I wasted several hours removing our old stove and installing this, such a waste of time, now I am back with our old a whirlpool cooktop, ... show more
